The Butternut Squarsh Harvest started-n-ended today; this here's ~ 120-150#s/54.5-68kgs haul:

Yet one remains stuck, resisting all efforts to set it free; I'll have to cut that baby out:

that is a good way to grow squash. i have always liked butter nut squash, but the season here is just a little too short
to get them to maturity consistently. i have since discovered hubbard type squash that do well here most years. sweet fall
is my new favorite. i need to get more than three of them though next year. they are delish.
nice haul there gotch.

@rxkeith; getting them there 50"/1,27 meters H x 16 feet/4.9 meter W 4 gauge wire cattle panels here from ~ 6.6 miles/10.62 kms away, rattling/scratching to beat the band the whole way, was a REAL CHORE!

Good thing they're ONLY for deliverin'!

Butternut Squarsh is DA BOMB on the grill!

Mountain Prides picked green nearly five (5) weeks ago; Top Left tray:

Now ripe and unbelievably firm, they will be pressed into the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch's signature Aunt Jennie's Tomato Breads.

Per the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch: "Very tasty, but a bit on the juicy side."

Juiciness may have been due to 3.5+"/8.9+cms of rain last weekend, and the resulting widespread splitting.

Seems to be a later season ripener, with any number of sizable greenies still vine-bound; bear in mind how late everything has been/is/will be for 2022.

Glass half full?

It's shown enough to make it into next season's Jardín del Gotch rotation.

Been a while since I’ve logged on. Late summer and early fall always get too busy! Good to hear on this one, I’ll be trying it sometime soon. I do like a juicy Mater as most of mine are fresh eaten

Took down two (2) 25'/7.62 meter critter fences from around the Kale-n-Herb Patches.

Mulched in the 2023 Garlic beds with a bale of Marsh Hay I swapped for some Tomatoes-n-Peppers.
thumbnail_IMG_1775.jpg
It never ceases to amaze me just how much hay you's get out of one (1) bale; there was enough left over to cover four (4) more raised beds.
thumbnail_IMG_1777.jpg
That'll 'bout do it, except for the remaining Darkibor Kale, top left of the 1st image.

Nice thought @rxkeith (remembering those marvelous beans you provided back in August), but the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch believes we are stretched to the everLUVin' limits as it is.

@PlainJane "What are you going to do with all that squarsh?"

After personal use, invest the proceeds...in shrink-wrap.

Today, the lovely and long-suffering Mrs. Gotch made some marvelous soup with last year's Flash Frozen Peppers/Kale/Zukes.

@rxkeith "whats the plan?"

Short term; remembering the buttery taste of those positively marvelous beans I was bequeathed last summer in the short term.

May I get back to you's on the rest...?

@MissS "You sure get an early start!"

Early? Shoot; @AKgardener's been at it a month or so or longer.

March 10th is just for those particular crops; 'Maters are planted on April 2nd, in honor of my Dear late Father's Birthday.

We got ~7"/17.78 cms of snow here; you?

I don't start my maters until tax day, April 15 or beyond. I just don't have the space for that and have never noticed much benefit when I did.

We had about 9" of snow but it's melting fast.
