Salvia 'Amistad'
In full bloom now, tends to be a bit brittle, as I found out when planting, broke off three small branches, just shoved them into the ground and now have four plants. Need to find new homes for three of them.

@Whwoz Oh I feel bad that I didn't mention this earlier. With these bigger salvia, I always put a cheap tomato cage around them or the winds will easily break them to pieces. At this point you could put 3 stakes around them and tie them up.

That sure is a pretty plant. It has a great presence and I bet that the bees are loving it.

Thanks for the advice @MissS . Not something I had thought about to be honest with you, those bits that broke off were from me being less careful than I should have been while planting it in the ground but at least I know that I can multiply it easily

Youngberry season has arrived here,
First pick today, only 350 grams/3/4 lb picked as I had to wait for them to dry off after yesterday's rain. None left after dinner tonight.

Needed to clean up access to them, so got busy with the flail, 8 wheelbarrow loads later ( to the compost bin) I could move a bit easier. Still need to cut more grass there.

Petunia Night Sky

This plant has grown to around the 90cm/3 feet across mark and flowers prolifically.

That's my daughter's favorite plant. It's so happy looking. Thanks for brightening this dreary cold day over here!

What the divine @MissS said; it's reassuring to see that, at least somewhere, there aren't gunmetal gray skies, sub 20°F/-6.7°C temperatures, and raw, wind-whipped flurries.

Thats not so weird @Cornelius_Gotchberg , happened here way back in '81 or '82 when we had a Southern buster come through. Where we iced typically got one or two days when the snow would settle, but you drove out of the snow zone about half a mile down the road, say 30 m lower elevation. This day Moe and Newborough, to the west of the local power station copped 6 inches of snow as the steam from the cooling towers froze.

Berry season is in full swing in the Garden of Woz, with some Hokowase strawberries, Youngberries and a few Tayberries picked this afternoon. The Tayberries are getting swamped by Blackberries where they are currently growing and need to be relocated. That bowl is about half of the Hokowase strawberries picked and only a fraction of the Youngberries waiting for me to pick.

One of the local Case Moth caterpillars has been moving around the deck before deciding to head upwards. Have not attempted to work out species

Another 1.3-1.4 kg/ just over 3 lb of strawberries, they are producing very well at the moment. Have been able to make a batch of jam with the surplus. Pity that I missed recording daughter's response to her taste test of this, she couldn't lick the teaspoon any cleaner without eating spoon itself
Next up will be a batch of Strawberry and Rhubarb, will definitely have enough berries for that and there should be enough rhubarb out there for harvest also.

Picked another 2.5 kg/5.5 lb of strawberries today, anything upto 12 fruit per plant, largest fruit around 30g/1 Oz in weight. Kept out enough for dinner tonight and tomorrow, the rest, about 1.75 kg are in the freezer with another 1.5 kg, so a double batch of Strawberry jam coming up on the next rainy day. Won't take long to get enough for a double batch of Strawberry and Rhubarb jam either at this rate.

Things have been a bit slower gardenwise here last couple of days as wife had to have an artificial ligament put into her left ankle on the outside. Recovering as expected by all accounts. Surgeon was like how are you still walking on that, it's the worst I have seen talking to her day after operation.

Wonderful strawberry harvest! I'll send some healing energy her way. Summer is such an inconvenient time to be recovering from anything! I broke my leg back in 2013 but thankfully, in winter. Speedy recovery, Mrs. Whwoz!

I'm glad to hear that Mrs Whwoz is on the mend. They can do great things with appendages these days. A lot of that is the outgrowth of things developed in sports medicine.

Whoa, you have a strong lady there. Take good care of her. She will be up and going in no time. Hugs to the both of you.

Mrs recovering well, p'd off with having to have ankle above knee for 23 hrs a day, so put her to work going through some big tubs of her mother's freesias. Have a big sieve set up in the wheelbarrow allowing her to hunt through for the corms.

Berry season is in full swing here, 11.5 kg /25.3 lb of Youngberries in freezer plus 4.2 kg/9.3 lb of strawberries. Not sure yet if I'll pick more Youngberries as Mum wants about 5 kg, will see what the weather does to them, strawberries will be added to as surplus we don't eat from each second day pick

That's the way to deal with the down time alright! Excellent call Dr. Whwoz, and I bet Mrs. Whwoz' spirits greatly improved with something handy to do.
