Because we took last year off, this MMMM will be anything allowed as far as year of grow out. Next year, we'll try to return to (most) seed 3 years old or less.
Thank you for confirming. Going to sort through and will likely attempt a quick trial germination to confirm viability before making up a list of "haves"
Reelcharacter If you find that you need a sponsor, I'm up to the task but let me know ASAP as I've got to get the packages out.

Thanks for the suggestion. I ordered these before I saw the request for larger bags. The only issue I have with uline is that their shipping is a bit ridiculous. I ordered 1 box and shipping was around $8. That's fine. I added a second box and it went up to almost $16. What?

The package came today (quick, well packaged) and I see a tiny box inside a very large box (6"x6"x12"). You could fit 12 of the little boxes inside the box that I received. I don't understand why shipping has to increase by such a large factor.

TLC333 is in need of a sponsor unless yall think I am sending in enough for both of us? She is a Facebook friend from the Wyoming Gardeners group... I talked her into joining here and trying to get into the swap but she is a new gardner and has no seeds to swap.

"has no seeds to swap.""

Soon she'll be begging her Wyoming Gardener's group to take all the extra seeds off her hands.

I hope that doesn't cause you two to get unfriended by that Facebook group. ;)

Just a quick update, I am almost finished packaging up my seeds. After that, I will check the wish lists, then proceed to mail out by Saturday.

I'm not done listing in the non-tomato thread. Those posts are just scratching the surface.

Oh dear maybe I should have sent a larger envelope... The one I just mailed only has 60 packets of micro dwarf seeds with 10 to 12 seeds per packet

Can anyone let me know how much postage to apply on the return mailer?

Gary, is it the same address as several years ago?

Here you go from the MMMM requirements thread:
"Requirements:

MY ADDRESS:

(remove the smilies, which are there in an attempt to thwart any phishing)

Gary :D Fitzgerald
22 :D Francis St.
Westfield :D , MA 01085

DEADLINES:

For posting your wish lists in that forum, about November 1st.
For me receiving your package, about November 20th.

BUBBLE MAILER (or equivalent):

A size #0 (about 6" X 9") bubble mailer should be adequate for most participants. It will hold about 150 - 200 seed packs of tomatoes and similar sized seeds, like peppers.

LEGIBLE RETURN ADDRESS:

Inside the bubble mailer, include a written return address that the postal workers and I can read, not one where you can read your own "chicken scratch". This can be on your wish list or any other correspondence, such as special requests and contact info like your Tomato Junction username.

RETURN POSTAGE:

Cash or stamps only. This is the most forgotten item, by newbies exited in their first swap, and long-time participants concentrating on sending in lots of seeds. Current first class rates for packages over 3/4" are $3.80 for weights up to 4 ounces, and $4.60 for weights of 4 to 8 ounces. I will pack a test bubble mailer with about 150 tomato packs to see which of the above rates will likely be used.

In you sending bubble mailers to me with little contents, the rate might be only about $1.20 (under 3/4", and under 2 ounces). If you can find it, there's an online chart called the "United States Postal Service Retail Quick Tip Sheet". The upper left corner has the first-class info. The one thing I could never get info on from anyone at the post office was postage for packages beyond Zone 1 & 2. I couldn't even get a verification as to what Zone 1 & 2 were. But, with most packages going out around Christmas, I don't think the USPS cares, at that extremely busy time of year. Many packages never get stamps counter-stamped."

If I'm using the USPS calculator correctly I have to enclose 15 stamps for return postage? I will have to revisit this in the morning. Maybe I'll just throw the whole stamp book in.

I was running into this problem too. I recommend walking into the USPS and letting them weigh it and what not. It was cheaper than I calculated online.

Wry grin I just tossed a $5 bill into my packet wrapped up in my printed wishlist and address for him. I figured if it wasn't all needed for mine, the rest could be used for someone else's packet who got got excited and forgot return postage or a tip for the hard work he is doing...

$8.25 in stamps seems very high, unless you're requesting Momatoro F1, and are also going to request a lot of heavy seeds, like beans. That would cover using a flat rate box.
