I wanted about 100 seeds of Connover's Colossal asparugus, with the catalog info saying a minimum of 40 seeds/pack. So, I ordered 3 packs. I now have an extra 200 seeds for the asking. Since asparagus from seed takes 3 to 4 years to produce thick spears, I don't want to hold these back for the next swap.

Understand that asparagus will be about 50/50 male and female plants, with the females producing much less spears. Unless one wants to produce a lot of seed, one rogues out all, or almost all, female plants. So, request double the amount of seed for the number of plants you want to have.

Lets see 2 people in my family so total we only need about 20 to 25 plants at the max. Plus I had asked for some of the other seeds... so sadly only about 20 to 25 of these seed and 2 or 3 of the berries. Does that sound about right? I do plan on separate beds for each variety...

Quality of the other asparagus is not known, as it's an unknown cross. Some plants of mine should come into full spear maturity this year. The funny thing is, last year was the first time ever that I mulched the asparagus bed, and stalks kept popping up in May and then June. Previous years no mulch, and all spears would appear in April. If you're adventurous, go with an even 50/50 split of Connover's and the others. If not, I'd plant about 3/4 Connover's.

Since plants can last for well over a decade in ideal conditions, if you haven't already, it's recommended that you read up on preparing an asparagus bed. I will send extra seed, as someone in your Wyoming group could get interested. Seeds should be viable for 2 to 3 years.

yep do know what they need as I have wanted to add it for years. Bed prep was started last year I just need to add some more goat poop. I had actually been planning on buying crowns this year... which I may still do. I am one of those folks who love asparagus and since the seeds will take 3 years to harvest time... 3 small separated beds would actually make sense both with my garden size/shape and with keeping the different varieties separated.

AND giggle one of the Wyoming gang just got back to me and would like some seeds also so your plan to send extra seeds fits that. She had to move her bed last year and is not sure how it liked the move so seeds would give her a back up... and/or start of a new bed.

I will let you decide how many of each type of seeds I need. My eventual goal would be 2 or 3 beds 4 ft by 4 ft square each with about 16 plants in them to harvest from. That would give me plenty to can, eat, or share.
