Whiteflies. They are strongly attracted to the yellow color.

These are Taurus F1. So sweet and crunchy and thin skinned. This is this am harvest.

Marsha, what a good looking cucumbers are, they are sure delicious,I have never tried the Taurus F1 variety, they are sure delicious

They are so sweet and crunchy, and with a thin skin. I found them at Harris seeds. I think you will like sweet success quite a lot too.

If I hope I like sweet success, I also have 8 more varieties planted, thanks Anneliese. Next season I will try Taurus F1.

Marsha, your cucumbers look fantastic. That is a great variety considering all the horrible hot weather we have been having. I was going to do cucumbers with the tulle , etc but got lazy and decided to wait til the fall. Sweet and crunchy sounds great - I will try that variety for sure.

Thank you Elaine. I wish we all still volunteered, I would send your DH home with one. (And I owe you back your book)I can't believe how hot it is, and only early April. I have found that cucumbers grow fairly well in the heat, not bad anyways. Obviously better though in the fall, but I usually get several before they poop out. Squished 4 pickleworm moths that were caught in the netting this am. Missed one though. Doh!

We made gurkinsalat out of 4 with the sweet onion, and full fat Greek yogurt, plus a little apple cider vinegar and some dill and celery seed. That used up 4 of them. I have 12 in the fridge, wrapped in plastic so they don't dehydrate and get rubbery. We use about 1/2 of one per day. I gave one to my next door neighbor, and one plus a few die hard tomatoes to my best friend. It's a challenge. Oh, I forgot, I made 3 large jars of refrigerator pickles.

Marsha, today I sowed 4 kinds cucmbers - seeds came from our German Seedbank. When I do get them ripe, I'll make seeds, are no F1.

Marsha, those cukes are looking fantastic! I always make a salad of cukes, tomatoes, onions and feta (Greek style) plus a lot of herbs.

Gah! I'm having cuke envy! Nice haul, Marsha. I was going to ask when your pickle worms show up down there but then you said you already have them. Phooey!
I have a recipe for Korean style cuke salad that we really like. Between it and the sour cream/dill type cuke salad, they get used a lot! One of your large cukes cut in 3/4" chunks and mixed with 2 sliced scallions, 1 tsp sesame oil, 2 tsp cider vinegar, 1/2 to 1 tsp hot chili flakes, 1/2 tsp salt and 1/2 tsp sugar or Splenda. Mix all together well and chill. Eat cold or at room temp. (From The Korean Kitchen cookbook)
