Today was my nice day for yard work, for a few hours at least. It was nippy in the morning and I spent a few hours in the greenhouse transplanting lettuce, until the 85F heat got too much for me. The sun had the sky to itself, the wind died down, and I spent a few hours just clipping old straw, dressing the compost, and clearing the garden paths. Not much above freezing but perfect weather to work in a warm jacket.

Chamber of Commerce weather. 74°F, 23°C. Brilliant sunshine, low dew points. Trees almost all budding out. Birds singing. Going to 46° overnight. Mostly 70s highs and 50s lows with a night or two in the 40s, all for the next 10 days as forecasted. One potential brush with strong storms Monday or Tuesday. Garden looks happy. Most everything in the flora and fauna world likes or at least tolerates weather like this.

its maple syrup weather here.
we are in a nice cycle of highs above freezing during the day, and lows below freezing at night
that gets the sap flowing on maple trees, and birch trees too. am looking forward to buying some fresh
maple syrup soon.

it was foggy a good part of the day ONLY in calumet it appears. lake linden, and hubbel down the hill were clear.
it gradually became sunny. trees had a frosty glaze on their branches this morning, a pretty sight to see.
we had two fifty degree days that turned the drive way to mush. we had to hire a front end loader to scrape er down.
so much for a gradual thaw. temp range is mid 30s to 40s during the day, and lows in the mid 20s at night.
no significant snow in the forecast which is good for me since i don't have my tractor back yet.
we might escape a st paddys day snow storm this year. i think winters back is broke. expect a few nasty days still, but
winter is in retreat.

I actually have 5 steel sap taps. I was going to tap my Basswood trees on my place, this might have been the year, but getting a consistent frosty night, warmer day thing might have been more of a Pleistocene epoch type of deal for south Texas, the climate here has warmed considerably since Columbian mammoth roamed the area. Born 12,000 years too early.

I told this story at T'ville several years ago.

A have a friend, who is a true city girl. Back when she got engaged, she and her boyfriend took a trip to Vermont, at this time of year. When they got off the highway onto the rural roads, the girlfriend asked the boyfriend, "Honey, why do the people, here, hang their trash buckets on trees?"

Well here's an unusual weather story: record heat at both poles at the same time! All things considered, it makes the weather here look remarkably normal for the spring equinox - and it is. ;) This could be the week for maple syrup here, if moose and hares would let those sugar maples grow.

A marvelously toasty 73°F/22.8°C today, and hasn't dropped too much yet; will drop to a balmy 44°F/6.7°C overnight.

Opened up the whole house to rotate all that stale air out, birds were frolicking in the baths like nobody's bidness.

Tomorrow? Will struggle to get to 50°F/10°C but will bring in some much needed rain.

@worth1 keep your head on a swivel tonight, big tornado confirmed near Luling. That storm tending to track to the Northeast towards Bastrop.

I'm alive.
Pepper plants had a sleepover in the truck.
Amazingly no one was reported killed in the several tornadoes that hit the area.
The bad stuff left my house in a gap between them.
When I posted the picture the sun was shining with storms all around me.

How bad did it get? @worth1 ?

We are about to get something. Under a tornado watch here at the moment. Storms likely an hour or so to our west. Nothing here overnight.

Hope that all of you in that area of violent weather, down south (and elsewhere!) are OK, with no damage. Stay safe!

Got down to 40° here overnight, which may be about normal here, but colder than it has been, and the first time my heat went on for a while, though only briefly. Another warm day today, in the 60s, but back down in the 50s tomorrow, with rain. I have to watch the lows, to see if it might get below freezing, as I'll have to shut the valves, and drain those outside pipes. I usually have to do that at least once after turning them back on.

Last Monday morning we hit 26. Then it's warmed back up but that front is coming through tomorrow. If the storms come through in the morning they'll be OK. If they come through in the afternoon the weather station says they could get feisty.

It looks like that nasty line is invading western Alabama right now.

Worth, I'm glad you're OK and not in Oz.

good feeling is gone.

sunday was a sunny 50 degree day. i was able to finally clean out the chicken coop. lets just say it was long over due.
temps have taken a nose dive thanks to that miserable east wind. we have had freezing rain that has turned to mostly snow.
john dee says we could have 1 to 4 inches by wed morning, and 4 to 8 range by thursday morning. so much for getting by st
paddys day without a snow event. it is spring, but only early spring which is more like late winter here.
roads are clear. pot holes are starting to develop on the side roads. you want to take care, and not go too fast to avoid sudden jolts
to the car while drinking that last cup of coffee on the way to work. the coffee will end going everywhere, but your mouth.

Late winter here too. We had freezing rain for a couple of days and now it's several days of "flurries" but really they are squalls. You see these straight lines parallel on the radar with precip erupting along the way. The winds are high enough to make it very nasty when a blast of it passes overhead. In between those maybe patches of warm sunshine, if you're lucky.

The tornado devastation was on the news here last night. Take care everyone in the path of the storm! Stay safe!

We didn’t get anything too rough from the severe weather outbreak. Some did not too far away. We got 7/10 an inch of rain early Tuesday morning.

48° 9°C out there this morning. The ten day forecast has nothing but outstanding tomato weather. Highs mostly around or a little below 80° , 27° C. Lows mostly around 15° C or 60°. Plenty of sunshine. I have lots of buds and blossoms forming or already about to bloom on my tomato plants, this could make for some good setting.

After a summer-like Monday, yesterday into today it cooled off considerably...BUT we received 1.75 inches/4.5 cms of steady, slow soaking, little-to-no-run-off, sorely needed rain.

Not only that, but it's been overcast, and will continue that way through tomorrow a.m., keeping that moisture in the ground.
