That rain in this last batch was close to 2", with some thunder, as was the 1 3/4" the first time, so we got some of that rain we were missing! Some areas prone to flooding got a little, but it soaked it up fast, after the heavy rain. Nice day, so far, but later today, rain returns, though not as heavy. And back up in the 60s! And up in the 70s, later this week...

we had rain for a couple days which was good, because it helped with snow melt.
the temperature dropped though, and rain turned to snow last night. it has been snowing
off and on a good part of the day, maybe 3inches since overnight. it is supposed to start warming up
after today, 40s, and even 50s forecast for the coming week. it will be nice to see.

I spotted the first crocus and muscari today, and the first garlic sprouts. That means the ground is thawed I guess! Wet weather probably helped, it is not exactly warm but once the ground softens frosty nights won't matter, spring is here for the hardy!

Today is 50 and sunny. The breeze is still cool to cold at times. We have a week in the 60's forecasted but then a week in the 40's coming. I use the trusty weather app Dark Sky. It's by far the most accurate for me.

Amending some gardens today and I have some trees to prune. Repairing some fence. It is still wet so the tractor stays in the barn for now.

Happy to be outside!!

Raining on and off until about noon here, then I have to let it dry. Temperature high, for normal, in the 70s, possibly hitting 80° Thursday. Possible thunderstorms coming with this weather, the next couple of days. It is April, so I can't complain!

High winds (50+mph) expected today, and 80-100mph gusts forecast about 50 miles south of here. Our local fire agencies just had their hands full putting out fires along the Arkansas river which came close to the city's water treatment plant and required the local animal rescue shelter to evacuate their animals. Fortunately, just a little smoke remains but with relative humidity below 10% and high winds forecast, things could get out of hand quickly. Not a good day to be outside...

Stay safe, George!

It's a little windy here by comparison, only gusting low 40's mph. NW and dropping the dew point below freezing. Steady temperatures here highs in the 30's F and drizzly or wet snowshowers or blowing tufts of fog or rain days past and days forward... I was planning to pot up the last dozen tomato plants today but TBH they are already stressed with cold and low light, I don't want to add transplant stress on that. Very chilly and drear.

We had a little snow last Sunday and a rare power outage for 5 hours. More snow predicted for today but nothing more than a little thick rain at times as well as a bit of sun this afternoon. Crazy weather for here. La Nina is still giving us the cold shoulder it seems.

My husband and I drove yesterday from Houston to San Antonio to enjoy a few days on the Riverwalk. We walked into very abnormally high temperatures for this time of year. It is very hot, especially when you're walking around outside!

70 F today and I walked to the beach.
Grass is getting a green tinge to it. (kind you have to mow)
Bird tried making a nest on top of my porch light.

windy, wainy, and wet.
and maybe some white thrown in to boot.
warmer weather in the 40s has shrunk the snow some what, still a lot remaining on the ground.
it is cooling off a bit. lows the next couple days will be in the mid 20s, so snow is expected.
there should not be much accumulation, but i still don't want to see any more snow at this time of year.

A week or so ago we had three days of 86-87F, and quite a few people at the community garden planted tomatoes. Then we got some nights down to the mid-30s and very windy days. The other day when I went to the garden to pick peas and asparagus, all the tomato plants I saw had been blackened by cold, even the ones with 1-2-inch greenies on them. I still haven't hardened off my tomato plants; they're still in the greenhouse. Most of my peppers and eggplants are still indoors, in front of the big window. But the bean plants I put out almost 3 weeks ago got hit by the cold. The forecast is showing more nights in the 30s coming up. I keep expecting another mega-heat wave like the one last year, when it was in the high 90s for several days.

When I lived in a more moderate climate, 100 miles away, I'd protect my tomatoes with walls-o-water and bubblewrap until the end of May! That might be a good strategy for this area, too.

I have been tapping my rain barrel for water for inside plants, instead of using tap water.

The weather?

Unseasonably cold...windy...raked a ton of neighbor's hard-to-get-at-wind-blown-into-nooks-n-crannies-oak-leaves which...um...found their way here...but the Sun's out.

Glass half full?

Cut flower season has commenced...

Started planting out. I hope those cold less than 50 degree days don't affect my plants.

Dry, with no rain really in the 10 day outlook. A good dose of rain would be nice to wash off the pollen coating everything. The Gulf of Mexico and the persistent flow off that is keeping things warm, but not hot. All the weather is going north of us.

What a sweet day we had yesterday! :) Sunny and not windy. High of close to 14C at the airport station, but I believe it was warmer than that in my garden. Seemed like 60F or more. I planted some grains and it was lovely, even the soil seemed pretty warm.
Today is still closing in on 50F and started out nice, but then out of nowhere it got extremely windy. Oh well, at least the sun is coming out...

Warm and humid here. Looks like that basic pattern for a week. Maybe a weak front slips in and drops the dew points a little tomorrow and Tuesday. Getting kind of toward the red zone at night for good tomato setting. We will still get better setting weather later in the month and in May, but a week of nights at or above 70° is not helpful this early.

The 9ft cloche house had to be opened this morning due to the bright hot sun. Now I just looked out and it was snowing. The outside thermometer says 48F. Supposed to be a freeze warning tonight, 30F. Another year of bye bye pear buds.
I can't see the snow on the pics, it would be blurs from high left to low right, but I assure you it is there.
