Seeing more comments from BOM about increased chance of La Nina occuring. Also seeing comments about negative Indian Ocean Dipole occuring and when the two occur together we get our really wet, as in record wet, years. Not looking forward to that too much if it occurs

1/3” of rain. Much needed. Some chances for rain tomorrow and Saturday, then more of the dry weather pattern reasserting itself Sunday and into the rest of next week. Dry overall pattern proving tough to break.

Re: How's your weather?
I hooked up and tapped the portable a/c and got 2gals of water out of it just overnight.
I add that to my rain barrel in the morning.I drain it during the day and again at bedtime.

Re: How's your weather?
It’s hot, it’s summer, who would have thunk it?
I’ve been weaning the wife off the A/C. Not completely, but she’s adapting. I tell her there may be a day that A/C isn’t going to be available. She’s been an amazingly good sport about it. We all feel better going from the hot outside to something inside that isn’t so jarringly chilly. We are running the central air just enough to dry out the air a bit and keep things comfortable, but not frigid. Something closer to 80° inside in the summer is way better than 70°or 72°. 95% of buildings around here are ridiculously overchilled in the summer and horribly overheated in the winter. Humans can survive, thrive and be perfectly content in conditions that aren’t so called perfect room temperature. We aren’t reptiles that cannot easily regulate our body temperature. Many in this country are terribly spoiled and complain pitifully the moment the temperature isn’t within about 5 degrees of 72° or even less inside.

Finally raining a bit. We will see how much we get. There has been less than two inches in the last month or so.

Next ten day forecast is running 106 to 110 this week, dry as a bone left a couple years in the desert.

Just listening to PBS radio and they were talking about the record setting temps in Texas. Stay cool and stay safe, Worth and all of our other Texas friends.

Re: How's your weather?
We keep the air conditioning set at 80F. If it starts feeling too hot, I step outside for a few minutes (there's always something that needs watering) and then it feels cool again indoors. To me, 79F is too cold and at 81F indoors I start to sweat.
At night, it's in the 50s-60s, so I open some windows. It's great for sleeping. I can't open all the windows, because the cat can't help scratching at the screens, at some point. He's very good about just sitting in front of the open (screened) window most of the time, but I'd rather not have to get up in the middle of the night to close a window! He does allow us to close the bedroom door; he used to scratch at every closed door. It helps that he has a nice window seat in another room where he can nap comfortably, or look out at some of his favorite places.
A few weeks ago, a raccoon was coming into our small fenced patio to poop, always in the same spot. With the window open, I could hear the claws scrabbling on the wood fence, so I put the outdoor light on, and once I was fast enough to turn the hose on, too. There's been no poop for at least a week, so maybe we're not on the regular nighttime route any more.

+1 for those in those horrible areas. As bad as I feel in the heat, I consider myself lucky when it's only in the low 90s! Getting worse in the days to come, with the meteorologist saying we are headed to the first day this season over 100° for the heat index. But still no triple digit temps yet, KOW. And I always remind myself, I might hate the heat, but my peppers (and some other things, like okra) love it!

Re: How's your weather?
2" of rain came down within a half hour a little while ago along with lots of wind. Fortunately no problems with that. This past week or so has been a nice change from the torrid heat we've had. Mostly 85-90, partly cloudy. The tomatoes are a lot happier, putting on new growth. It's a good thing.

It wasn’t very hot today, I don’t think it made it to 90°. A little rain fell, 1/10” or so, with some more near misses. Garden is appreciating the break in the weather.

Re: How's your weather?
It has been cool here for the last few days. Much needed rain today too. This was a welcome short reprieve before we hit the 90's again this weekend.
My friend in the UK tells me that they are expecting record breaking heat there. Going to be about 94 degrees F.

@MissS yes, it could break all records and hit 40 celcius next week that's 104 in old money. Some areas of Spain have seen temps hotter I believe.

Re: How's your weather?
We had a little shower early this morning - drop in the bucket and not enough but very welcome however much it is.
I hope all of you who are enduring record high temperatures do stay safe and hydrated and cool!
I don't believe we have broken a single daily temperature record as yet this summer, although the weather is well above averages. What is record breaking for us is the number of days in a row over 20C, basically since the middle of June we have hit at least 20 every day, according to the weather man. I suspect we are in record territory for low rainfall, as well,. I have tomatoes ripening outdoors, in the first half of July... absolutely unheard of! And a bonus for me.
Highs in the coming week will go to 26C/ 80F on a couple of days. All time record high temperature here is a little over 31C so around 88F is top for all time. The only place I see over 100F is in the greenhouse... which reminds me! Time to turn on the fans.

Over 10 degrees cooler than the other day and still knocking on ton-ups door.
Ton-up is a British term for going 100 miles an hour or more on the old motorcycles like the old 650 Triumph Bonneville.
I've had mine up to 120 mph or more stopped looking at the speedometer after that.
I'm relating it to 100 degrees in old money.

the best rain dance
windy.com missed this one, it said dry sat dry sun rain monday afternoon. That was the forecast at 1pm.
I got out the smoker for some ring bologna.
An hour later with the smoker in the yard it started raining. I check windy again it auto refreshed before my eyes to an updated "forecast" of rain on Saturday morning (8 hours in the past when it did not rain) and Saturday evening, Sunday, and Monday. According to the gauge we only got a trace maybe 1/32" in the afternoon but it chased my smoker to the carport. But now, finally, tonight..very nice. I think it has been close to 4 weeks since the 1.5in of rain. Since then we had about a quarter inch once and trace amounts a few times. Water barrels have been empty for a quite a while.
I got asked at the comm garden the other day, Do I know any good rain dances? I guess I have an answer for next time. Get the electric smoker out!

Re: How's your weather?
We are in a stage 2 drought with a week of 90-100 temps forecast next week. Best chance of rain supposed to be tomorrow with Thunderstorms. I hope we get a good amount of rain and it soaks everythng thoroughly and doesn't just pass us by.
