Re: What do you cook in your air fryer?
I just bought a $38 air fryer at walmart, because my girlfriend said she was craving french fries. They were not bad. I will have to try some of the suggestions on this thread.

I love to do wedges in them, whole potatoes with skin cut into pieces.
The behaviour of light means you observe me as i was then, and not as I am now.

Re: What do you cook in your air fryer?
Here may be a little eye opener for some of you.
The UK runs on 220 volts.
The US runs on 120 volts.
The 220 volt appliance will be more efficient than the 120 appliance.
Take a dual voltage welder for example.
The duty cycle at 240 volts will be we shall say 100% at 100 amps.
The duty cycle at 120 volts will be 50% at 100 amps.
This means at 240 you can run continuously.
At 120 you can run 5 minutes and let cool for 5 minutes.
Duty cycle.
This is the reason all ovens and dryers run 240 volts.
The in my best guess would be the air fryers made for the higher voltage would have better results and be a better all around product.
Not a big fan of high electricity usage 120 appliances because of this.

What about fried green tomatoes? Anyone ever try those? I love 'em but balk at all the grease I use frying them the conventional way.

I saw your post in the other place and no one answered.
I in my opinion don't think it would work because the tomato has too much moisture.

Worth, with regular fried greens, my momma taught me to slice them, salt them, let them sit for upwards of 20 minutes, then drain & pat dry. It reduces moisture and lets them fry up in a finite period of time.

Re: What do you cook in your air fryer?
I do the same with onions when I think ahead.
I salt them and let them almost dry out.
Takes more than a day but they are killer crispy.
Salting eggplant helps too.
Might work with green tomato slices as well.

Re: What do you cook in your air fryer?
The problem initially with the air fryer is that it got me to buy all sorts of pre fried processed foods. I think I gained ten pounds of air fryer belly, because it is so healthy and all that...
I am finally getting better at cooking vegetables in it. A little oil is required, which is counter intuitive for an air fryer, but they come out ok. I often cut up vegetables and add them to frozen pizza, and the air fryer is good for cooking the water out of bell peppers and mushrooms before they go on the pizza.

I air fryered a nectarine last night, tasted like cobbler when enjoyed over vanilla ice cream.
