Not seeing much on the news at the moment about this, so just how far down Texas is this cold going? Is it making it to Mexico?

Yes, the most southern parts of Texas and even northern Mexico were shocked by the winter storms.

30 minutes away...a few days ago. A good place to go for fresh seafood. An astonishing sight.

It's called the Pleasure Pier. Been there for several years.

I haven't been to Galveston since the late 90's.
This explains why I never saw it.
The first one was taken out by a hurricane and the place sort of went down hill for awhile.
They stopped the drinking of alcohol on the beach which ran off the riffraff and families started coming back.
Thats at least what I heard on the news a little over 20 years ago.

Some Galveston beaches allow alcohol. Other Galveston beaches don't allow alcohol.

Haven't been home since the early 80s and even then didn't wander down to High Island to look at Pawpaw's house. I don't imagine it is still there since that area got hard hit since then. It was the only one built right on the ground in that area. We used to swim on the Gulf side of the peninsula where Carla had brought the beaches in a mile. Lots of concrete and house remains we had to avoid. I remember there being a store at the corner of his street and the highway....

I think this picture depicts the terrain here pretty well. Much of this land here was an air force base that was here during WWII. This was the old highway, the new highway runs along side it. This old road makes a convenient, if a little bumpy, bike path for getting to work, because it's completely blocked off from cars. Lots of people walk it, a few bike it.

Maas Nursery....

I've been here three times in the last week trying to replace plants that I lost during the Ice Age of 2021.

Garden centers are such fun! I was at one this morning and it didn't look like nearly half as much fun as yours is right now. Soon though...

I show you some photos of the Cathedral of Jaen which is where I currently live. The Cathedral of Jaén was the great masterpiece of Andrés de Vandelvira, an architect who managed to turn the temple into one of the best purely Renaissance examples that exist. And that despite the fact that its construction, which began in the year 1540, lasted for different periods

That is a remarkable piece of work, Nico. :)
But still I adore the castle that seemed to almost grow out of the rocks where it's perched. :D We have rocks like that, but no castles. Too bad!
