@Mark_Thompson Most of the competition growers will only select fruits from mega blooms. They look for those with the most fused blossoms. Sometimes they get 5 or more fused blossoms. I have never had one like that though. You can do what you want. You could allow your single blossom to set and then see what else your plant produces. If you get a few more that are mega blooms, then you can cull your single blossom fruit and allow the plant to put it's energy into those. Some will allow a few fruit to set and then choose the one that is growing the fastest.

Shule is correct in that mega blooms occur most frequently in the early phase of a plants bloom cycle.

@Shule Thanks, I’m on a one season time horizon here though. I will be sure to save seed from my plants with the biggest fruits.

@MissS I think I will let some of the bigger singles set fruit then, and if something more promising happens higher up the plant just go back and prune.

Growing Giant Tomatoes thread - ends up at wonderberries!

I am with shule, megablooms are first truss around here, maybe second.

From that bullet list, I do 1 2 3 and used to do 6, I guess. I thought I had more funky tomatoes like that when I was using a tuning fork to pollinate. Been years since I saw that thing....I think it was C sharp!?

Good luck growing big ones M T....up north seems to be the place to grow super sized tomatoes consistently with the long sun and a glass house, at least from what I've read.
