I'll have to try that Uluru Ochre once in my lifetime, I hear such contradicting reports about it.

GMG has been very good her too, every time I had it..

Rebel Yell was average for production here too and late season. It was not a good year overall and didn't get good yields for any variety. But it was the top for flavour.

If looking for a pink of similar size, try Crnkovic Yugoslavian -- it is a production beast and earlier. But it is milder in taste.

I was just reporting on flavour. If production is what you're after I would also try Azoychka, Malachite Box, Japanese Black Trifle, Chocolate Stripes. Casey's Pure Yellow and Earl of Edgecombe also pumped out the fruit, but are too late for my location.

Hi! Just joined.

Spudakee, Terhune, Vorlon (sometimes), Damsel (hybrid pink new to me but pretty late). Carmello (the hybrid) has pretty good flavor ok texture but thick skin which I hate.
First three had the best texture among the couple dozen I planted and nice thin skins and juicy.
They also were the most productive. Vorlon was early.

Most of the other bunch many were bland and or mealy I guess due to the unending cool spring here in the PNW. This is my second season here. First season was Earl Faux, Spudakee, Azoychka, and Druzba.

We had a real sucky season here but GGWT managed to pump out tomatoes with great flavor.

This is only my second season here. Been somewhat difficult coming from a warm weather state...

I usually just stay away from very late varieties or those that insist on hot weather!

Then hope we actually get the warm weather. This was a strange year!

Sorry to hear it was not a good year in your area... or garden. I think this season was one of the best I have seen, despite the crazy weather patterns .. (cold spring / heat wave in the summer)
All varieties produced well and the flavour did not suffer too much either.. all were decent. Some cherry varieties were super abundant.. and my largest slicer / beefsteak plan gave me over ten fruits, including very large ones.. all delicious. (I know this may not be a lot for some climates.. but for my short season, it was over abundance.)

Well here are some favorites I grow every year and as always didn’t disappoint in 2022:

Brandywine Sudduth
Dwarf Emerald Giant
Lillian’s Yellow Heirloom

New to us in 2022 that wowed:
Polish (better than Sudduth BW in all aspects)
Polaris
Brad’s Atomic Grape (was worried it would be all looks no personality, but flavor was quite nice).
Gary ‘OSena (extremely productive and healthy but flavor/texture wasn’t as good as Polaris).
Dwarf Rosella Purple — a many year hiatus but why? Perfect texture and very good flavor!
Amalfi Orange F1 was very good, a lot like KBX, texture was a bit thicker/drier than I prefer but flavor production and health was all great

I grew 24 varieties of non-cherry tomatoes this year (beefsteaks, slicers, hearts, pastes/plums).
Best Taste: Oaxacan Jewel, Rebel Yell, Blue Ridge Mountain, Orange Banana, Cherokee Carbon F1
Also very good: Mediterranean, Cornue des Andes/Andes Horn, Supersonic F1

Rebel Yell, Blue Ridge Mountain, and Mediterranean were somewhat shy producers, possibly because they were planted pretty late and didn't have time to set much fruit before it got really hot. The rest of these produced heavily.

I grew 10 varieties of cherry tomatoes this year.
Best Taste: Sungold F1, Garnet
Also very good: Dikovinka, Rosella, Super Snow White, Sun Sugar F1

Sungold, Sun Sugar and Dikovinka were very heavy producers from early/mid July through early November.
Super Snow White produced moderately but steadily from late July through late October
Garnet and Rosella produced well from mid-July to mid-August, then succumbed to heat and/or foliage disease. Garnet shut down entirely and had to be pulled. Rosella limped along but produced only an occasional tiny, sad fruit the rest of the season.

I grew those Oaxacan Jewels for the first time this year, and they were definitely a keeper. Great flavor, plus the most productive of all my large varieties, and incredibly early. I was shocked when I saw some ripening on 7-3, which was earlier than most of my cherries. Only drawbacks I had were two - the clusters of fruits, when they got 4 or 5 on them, would get BER, but not when I thinned them. Second, they seemed to slow down greatly, as soon as it got quite cool in September, and didn't recover, like others did. However, they were not at all affected by the heat in the high 90s, while most of the others dropped their blossoms. Here's the early ones I found on 7-3, with many more soon after.
