The Papalo is about the most fragile seed that I've ever seen. So, it's kind of spliced between the suggested varieties to save card and the "brick".

When I have way too may seeds, I sometimes send the extras to seed libraries. Some only accept commercial packs. Do you know your local seed library's policy?
I'm not sure they have a policy yet. However, all of the seeds I sent were commercial varieties. Some had seeds I'd saved, others were packages parted out from commercial varieties I'd saved seed from. Since they're just getting started, I hope they're open minded about what they'll accept. I don't tend to give twice to an organization that gives me grief about my donations.

Does the library have a website and/or email?

The seed library is just getting started so they don't have a site of their own, no. The launch date is March 4. Here's the link on the New Leaf page. New Leaf does some things well but they're not the greatest when it comes to business matters. They tried for years to open a co-op and to be fair, no one could have tried harder. They sold memberships in advance at nearly $200 each, which I declined. The store never opened and I have no idea what happened to the membership fees. Things they tend to do well involve networking of organizations and the winter farmer's market. But I had to clean out my seed collection anyway thanks to a windfall from this national seed swap I was involved in, so hopefully the seeds I've given will be useful to them.

I spent 1200 bucks on a brand spanking new refrigerator. Bring it home and my wife is excited!

Then I begin wheeling it into the garage shop.

Wifey: What are you doing??!??

Me: This is for the seeds! The mini fridge has achieved capacity! Now we can order more seeds!

Wifey rolls eyes and goes back into the house after saying I need help lol

Yep I'm a full fledged seed addict..

Pinetree sent another catalog two days ago. I was casually leafing through it while watching basketball on tv when I found myself taking notes on a few "possibles" for fall. Make that now "probables". Great day! We're not even into spring and fall seeds are calling. :?

Hi Sari. The first thing I thought when I read the first sentence is only 218 varieties sounds like you're just getting started :D :D :D . I have a big tomato seed collection and the nice thing is they can last quite a number of years if well-sealed and stored in a refrigerator. I know this doesn't help any addiction, but if there's a truly rare variety that's not always readily available and I want to try it, often I'll just buy and store the seed knowing I'll have it for later. I do a lot of seed saving and sharing, so that tends to accumulate a lot of varieties as well. One year before my knees went out on me, I had over 125 varieties planted! Can't ever have enough tomatoes and donated and shared a lot of fresh fruit and sauce. :D :D :D

Watching the Midwest Gardener's videos are torturous as he slowly cuts a piece of tomato and tastes it - I bought all his favorites.
My sister has a ranch in Washington state where she told me the good ground grows the best tomatoes- in fact she thinks that's why her husband married her. I sought out and mailed the most comprehensive exotic selection I could find for her. There comes a point when family ,friends, neighbors have more than enough seeds, and reality sets in it's time for me to work at growing a few. I think that may be the cure from my seed buying addiction, for a season at least.

Seed...um...hunters/gatherers/acquirers unite, and look at it this way:

Were we knitters...it'd be yarns; were we quilters, it'd be fabric swatches...can't (shouldn't?) sink yer teeth into the end product of those, am I right?
