She was a good kid. They had a garden for couple years, then covid hit. Her dad said that she wanted to plant all kinds of stuff then, more than they could take care of. He said she was really mature about it, really wanted to help out, but was really worried about running out of food, from all the hype the news 24/7. That was during/after the lockdown. She would be worrying about it all night. This would have been after the initial lockdown - they went up to a cabin in the adirondacks during the first couple months. Came back and it was getting late to start the garden. A 9-10 yo in the modern day worrying about food security. She read that beans were good to plant for food and wanted to plant lots of beans like I had. He didn't want her to worry, but had a hard time calming her down. He took her to a farm - a local produce seller that they know - and the farmer told her not worry and gave her I don't know how many bushels of beans for them to can or freeze, for free. I remember saying, yeah, if you need to put up a bunch of beans, that is easier than growing and picking them.
