Just...WOW! Nothing quite like the middle of August for a Tomato Rancher, am I right?

What are those Yeller/Reddy Bi-Colors (Old German?) on the lower left and the Greenie/Reddy Bi-Colors (Ananas Noire?) on the lower left of 2nd tray from top?

And are those allFENZ 7'/2.13m garden stakes pulling box duty? I have ~60 of 'em myself.

The Gotch
Yeah, August is awesome harvest time, but also can be a little overwhelming when you get 8 trays at once.

Lower left yellow/red bicolor are Orange Russian 117
Green/Red on 2nd tray from the top is Captain Lucky

Neither is invited back this year because I prefer Armenian for a yellow/red bicolor and Cherokee Green for green when ripe. Just my taste in my garden conditions.

At plant out they get some little puny stake so they don't get damaged in rain/wind. Once they get big enough to reach (usually July 1) They get 2 of those 8 foot green sturdy stakes. I don't prune very heavily. So I do a lot of tying up. If needed, they get more stakes in-between plants too. Cherries/grapes I cage with 7 foot cattle fencing (not the panels, this came in a roll).

I grow in raised beds on a slope in my backyard. We are surrounded by trees and this is the sunniest spot. This view is of my 4 main tomato beds and a flower bed at the bottom.

That is a spectacular looking raised bed garden! What kind of wood did you use?

..."the thrill of the chase, indeed!!!" My favorites from several chases are : Stump of the World, Andrew Rahart's Jumbo Red, and my beloved
Anna Russian. All three of these grow extremely well in my 5b/6a garden in the Finger Lakes Region of New York. Still looking for one new variety to add to this season and it will probably be Rosella Purple Dwarf. Have a great season....

Welcome back! :) That's a nice big tomato. How did it taste?
Thanks! That is an Upstate Oxheart tomato, weighing 2lbs 8oz.
Whoa! Is there by any chance a dwarf version, I wonder?

Hi!!!! From Danbury as well! I saw you on here in the Fall, saw posts on the Upstate Oxheart and am trialing it this year. Very excited! Have my starts growing in the basement. Was actually out double digging my beds in a t-shirt last Friday - freezing and no way would I work in the garden today; good old New England spring time!
