85 high, 72 low.....partly cloudy. A little unseasonably warm.

Where is the rain and hail, I drove over a hundred miles an hour to get home and beat it.
Well not really but it was on my tail.
According to the weather forecast we are in for a big one big time.

typical early spring weather here. its a tug of war between winter and spring.
days are longer, trending warmer, and sunnier. some 50 degree days followed
immediately by days in the 30s. today we had snow showers. n.o.a.a. says a major
snow storm will blow through sunday with lots of wet slushy snow. don't know any
details yet, but i will be off with nowhere to go, so should be ok.

It got up to 77° F., which I didn't realize until after I found that some of my seedlings in the greenhouse had endured heat stress. When it gets close to 80° F., I normally open the big vent to prevent that. I did open it after the fact, and things are looking up. The vent is in tatters (basically just an opening, without a vent); so, a cat hopped in some minutes ago. The cat left and it's closed again, for the night. The cat did no damage.

Monday morning is supposed to be warmer than the weather once said. So, I think I better plant my melons in foam cups this week.

It rained here, around 1 PM Thurs., a very brief, but intense TS - got to over 60 mph wind gusts here, causing only some flickering of the lights, here. It is VERY windy here now, and I can hear it rattling the windows. It's supposed to stay this way tomorrow - 20-30 mph sustained winds forcasted. I don't think I'll be doing much outside...

Record heat yesterday. 94F in early April!

Beautiful day today and yesterday, around 70 - 75F with light wind, started expanding the veggie bed but won't be doing too much of that tomorrow after I get up from Night shift, winds to 35mph and rain anywhere from 1/2 an inch to 1 1/2 inches, temp in low50'sF. Sunday at least will not be very wet, but still cool and windy

Beautiful for us has been a couple of sunny days with temperature getting above freezing for a few hours. There's a wind warning for this afternoon, blowing from the Southeast with a sleety mix changing to rain. Even that is welcome, to eat away at the snowbanks.

Weather had been pleasant, but snow is flurrying as I write this.

Had a big storm last night and gonna be catching a heat break in the mid 70s for the next week!

Really nice, comfortable weather, days in the 80s, lower dew points, nice mornings in the 60s. Almost all of the stormy weather has passed to the north of us. We are way down on rain, but watering the garden periodically is better than too much rain. Looks like a night that drops down to 60 degrees and more low 60s forecast for mid week. Could be the last chance for good fruit set on some of the less heat tolerant tomatoes.

We are a good bit behind on a normal spring here. Also we had so much snow that there is still a lot of it around. I looked at the record this morning, most snow on ground for this date was 32 cm, on that memorable!! winter 20 years ago. So put into perspective, it's not that bad. We still have 32 cm or more in places because of the amount of drifting leaving dunes of snow, but the garden is starting to emerge this week and I'm happy to see bare ground. Today is forecast to go to 9C, and the sun is shining, so there will be progress!

39 degrees this morning, but the few tomatoes I have outside were covered. Heading up to 80 today and peaking at 93 degrees on Thursday, with lows in the mid 50's. This is at least 3 weeks ahead of normal. I have been reluctant to store away the snowblower yet, but this weather is great for getting the garden going.

We hit 58-59 degrees this morning, very likely the last of the 50s here until next fall.

It's beautiful here (in between big storm fronts) in the 70's and low 80's with a nice breeze most days. Yesterday I had to get into shorts around lunch time.

Spring is pretty much history. All the trees are fully leafed out and the only things blooming right now my Perfume Delight rose and the area chinaberry trees with their sweet scent. This is the sweet spot that I love! From mid to late April thru mid to late May when the heat starts rising and the breeze goes away. Ahhhhhhh!

In the north, when you get a heavy snow that stays on the ground, did you ever wonder where the animals go?
Well, as the snow pack ages, a space forms underneath the snow which is called the "pukak". There is a bit of melting closest to the warm ground that makes a space, while the snow above it stays rigid. And in winter, the small animals live in the pukak.
We had such a big snow this winter that stayed, and now as it's melting I got a glimpse of the pukak, shown here between two garlic beds. The whole area behind these beds is a valley although the snow looks flat across. I'm betting there is one crazy pukak underneath....

Lots and lots of rain, too much rain.
Then hot and cold hot and cold.
My beloved tomato plants may not make it, got some sort of plague but they might grow out if it.
Tomorrow I will spray with bleach solution and they don't look that bad.
Garlic is struggling due to heat and I might just let it die back for next year.
Some have already died back to the soil.
It worked last year and I got some nice cloves all two of them.
I'm not a greedy person and am happy to just be doing something.
Onions aren't doing well at all.
Got a peach tree that put out leaves and has had these leaves for weeks.
Then all of a sudden they have blooms and then fruit.
Same with pomegranate way late on blooms as well as other plants.

Texas is a pretty big place, one place can get too much rain, another hardly any at all. Usually, it’s central Texas crying for rain, now I guess it’s our turn on the coast.

Another gorgeous rainless evening here, low comfortable dew points, warm, tomatoes looking happy and tall, very tall. Never have I grown tall tomato plants, so this is fun.

Yeah I live right smack dab in the middle of a forest with rotting moldy leaves and all such things.
Prime area for all things disease for tomatoes.
Just about a mile and a half or two from the south shore of Lake Bastrop.
Place is covered in bugs of all kinds worse on rainy years.

52 degrees this morning, did not see that coming. Thought the 50 something degree night were over until fall. Supposed to be 83 for the high. Delightful
