I was also scratching my head at the description I was reading compared to the information on my seed packets (from Toomanymatoes and, I think, HL2601). I think Tormato's suggestion of calling this indet. heart variety (as verified by the two people that provided the seeds that I have) Eugenia is a good idea.

I do this for my notes when growing something for the first time too so that I know if what I have is correct before passing it on to others. In a few cases where it wasn't, I still ended up discovering a variety worth saving. Just not what I originally thought I'd be saving .

I've finished entering into my tomato database all the new tomato varieties I received. However there's one I can find zero information on and that's 'Sachulak'. The only return online is one person who lives in Illinois. I've tried various other spellings in case the name was misspelled on the pack label. Nothing.

Does anyone have any information on this one?

I received Sochulak, too. (Thanks, MissS.) I saw your post on it last year and it looks like a plum-shaped paste tomato with your photo showing one at 4.5 oz. Was that the average size? Did you get variable-shaped fruits? I ask because there's an old post at TV where Tatiana was asking for clarification on it and it was said that it has variable shaped fruits leaning towards heart. I was wondering what the plant(s) that you collected seeds from were. Thanks.

Mine were all quite uniform in shape and size. They are described as a RL wispy foliage, 8-12oz plum to heart. Mine were plum shaped fruit, 6-8oz which were very sweet and juicy. Good fresh or sauce. I had it in a poor location and it still did very well for me. I will grow it again in a better spot to see what it really is capable of when treated nicely.

@GoDawgs Your seed was not from me because mine has typed labels so what shape you get from yours may be different than mine. I did find it to be very worthwhile growing.

If it grew for you true to type, it is.

True to type is both a paste shape and a heart shaped. It seems to be hit or miss. So in that it was a wispy, paste shape with very sweet flavor and juicy fruit, I think that mine was true to type. The next time I grow it I will use another seed out of my pack that I bought and see what I get and if it is comparable to what I grew this time.

Anyone have a picture of "Bacon, Lettuce and This" tomato??? I like to save pictures of all the varieties I have seeds for.

No pictures, but an Ind, PL, large red beefsteak, great flavor in my garden, a variety that originated with me. My selected from a Granny's Heart pack that grew a mix of RL and PL plants for Cloz. Cloz received his seeds from Barkeater. I don't know if it's commercially available.

I spelled Kimberley wrong for two years, about a decade ago. TomatoFest still spells it wrong.

There are a couple of other misspellings that I should create a thread for.
