At last it looks like we will have night temps above 10 C and daytime will be almost 20 C . Hurray!
Tomatoes in pots have been growing anyway and are 2- 2.5 ft tall now.

I believe we got close to 15C today. Spent the whole day in the garden prepping beds and shuffling a few volunteer mallows and evening primrose. We're in for a chilly night though with clear skies and maybe -1C in some places. Sunny tomorrow, gonna be a good one.

Seems like thunder storms almost every day here.
Is there an El Nino or something going on or what?

Rain almost every day, sometimes a torrential rainfall. Same forecast for the next 4 days. If I didn't have raised beds, all of my tomatoes would be in my neighbor's yard.

Messy, windy storm last night. More wind than rain. Picked up a ton of limbs this morning, once again, lately, a bi-weekly exercise. North wind followed the 3am mayhem. Turned out to be a Beautiful day, the offshore flow dropped the humidity. Setting up for one or two more coolish nights, oh so rare this late in the Spring.

All my elephant ears have been propagated from bulbs I got a very long time ago. All of the plants are "upright." They are invasive.
These are growing in a "yard waste" area and they are taller than the privacy fence.

I have mine growing in tubs I sunk into the ground and keep water in.
No drain holes.
Mini swamp you might say.
Not invasive because they are restricted to where they are in the tubs.
The mush they grow in never stinks or anything.
This allows me to have them and not waste water.

Our turn for the rough weather, though, I think we are missing the worst of it. Hail in the area, missed us so far. Thunder, lightning, heavy rain, but not a ton of wind, I can live with that.

Oh boy... big day for weather here. You know we haven't hit 20 C/70 F yet until today, mostly the good days have been close to 60 F or at least, over 50 F. No leaves on the trees yet, it's a late late spring. The forecast for today was to hit 22C... I just came in for water and it is already 25 C/humidex 29, expected to go to 27 C with humidex 30C. In Americanese/Tomato lingua franca it is now 77F/humidex 84F. There isn't much wind either... everything is in shock with the heat. Tomatoes would be loving it... for a day!

Whaaaaat?

By far the hottest temperature/highest dew point day this year. TS Cristobal killed our sea breeze, but then wrapped in a bunch of moist tropical air now getting super heated over land and being funneled over us. 76 degree dew point, 92 degree air temperature, 108 heat index at 4pm. Went out to look at the garden, no thanks, too hot, came right back in. Good thing I watered this morning. One more day of this tomorrow and then some drier air is forecast to move in. Still going to be hot, but not as humid.

We seem to have settled into a typical winter pattern so far, a series of cold fronts followed by some highs. Second day of -2C/28F frost in a row but should get up to 14C/57F. Will be a glorious day when it warms up. Wondering how much of the irregular patterns you Northern folks are seeing is due to smoke from our fires. 30 million acres burnt must have some impact

We have entered Juneuary here on the west coast. That's normal for here. We have had a few days where it has reached as high as 20C. It is amazing how the tomato plants have grown despite 9-10C nights night after night. Just about 4' and seeing the first fruit forming on a couple of cherries, so far.

Our weather has been strange.
Early this spring, it was super dry, with normal temperatures for that time of year. Usually the early spring is our wettest time of year, along with early October, with it being very dry during the warm months.
Later in the spring, we got a fair amount of rain. Then it was suddenly hot and dry for a while (up to 103° F.) Then it got rainy and cold-ish (which is rare for this time of year). Now, it's cool, sunny, and warming. It should be kind of hot again in a few days, for one day (91° F.), and then oddly cool and warm for a while. It's normally hot and dry by now.
Our snow peas should love the coming weather.

Wet, warm, and humid. Rough on the tomato leaves. Hard to fight the disease. Culling leaves and spraying. Hard to keep up when it rains every day. We've already processed about 75 lbs of tomatoes though.

We've had it hot and windy for the first week of June, now cooled off for a couple of days after some drenching rains, and it was great for working yesterday and today because... too cold for blackflies! Yep they are early and have been really bad for the past week.
Tonight we have a frost advisory. Drat but... might put a damper on the flies I suppose?
