Re: How's your weather?
I sort of expected to smell smoke today because of the air quality warning, but I couldn't really smell anything more than a hint of it. So I thought well it's not bad here at all. But my brother gave Mom some detection gear to monitor air quality in her home, and she tells me that even indoors, the air quality for PM2.5 was up from normal both yesterday and today.
So it is interesting to know that the air quality and health risks may be affected even if it's not really noticeable beyond seeing a haze in the sky.
I'm not worried personally, unless it gets somewhat similar to standing next to a wee fire.
However if it's all around the area it might affect you for doing heavy garden work or such.
Or for people like my Mom, who has a heart condition, well she did notice some difficulty breathing.
Not a fun thing for sure, and I hope you Aussies can avoid the worst with El Nino coming on.

Supposed to get to 91° today which is a few degrees above normal. Thunderstorms are just offshore in the Gulf and heading this way so we might not get to 90°. Got my burn pile yard debris burned up yesterday without any drama. Grass is mowed. Let it rain.

Hardly any rain yesterday, despite being gloomy and misty all day, but today I got .87"
by noon. It's stopped now, but still supposed to rain a little more. Fortunately, nothing like they are getting in New York!
Only got to 67° yesterday, and only supposed to get to 64° today.

Re: How's your weather?
Temps have generally been in the 60s, but only in the 50s today and RAIN. 4.31 inches on my rain gauge SO FAR today. Its still raining. I live on a bit of a hill so no worries for me, but goodness, not everyone is in that situation. 7.15 inches of rain in the last 7 days. Criminy, I hope it decreases A LOT before it starts coming down as snow!

Re: How's your weather?
No I haven't planted yet @Cornelius_Gotchberg , running a bit late due to all the construction works associated with the greenhouse. Have just checked the weather forecast and it is getting wetter, now with 125 mm/5 inches forecast from Tuesday to Friday so maybe a good thing I am a bit late.Cornelius_Gotchberg wrote: ↑Fri Sep 29, 2023 8:03 amWhen you's posted that it was ALREADY tomorrow, there; heck it's pert' 'near October down yer way, am I right?

Re: How's your weather?
we got a decent rain overnight. it is going to be in or near the 80s for two or three days this week.
that is unbelievable for here. once october rolls around, the garden is on borrowed time lows in the 50s
and 40s expected. none of that dreaded 30s weather in the forecast. i am having a late season surge in cherry
tomatoes ripening, so nice to have an abundance for the first time this season. i need the extended season to
get my gina/steve cross beans collected for seed. a good bunch is out there. just need a little more time.
every extra day is a blessing.

Raining like a son of a gun out there. First hard and sustained rain here in many months.

Re: How's your weather?
Still no rain here. Drought continues. Maybe a break if it actually rains here this week. Watering the fall summer squash and the sulky okra yet. Never had a summer before that I did not get okra, hope we do next year, we are about out of pickled okra. A couple tomato plants still sort of alive, but tomato season was a complete bust due to the high temps.

Re: How's your weather?
Over 4.5” so far, raining still and once again getting very hard. Both my gauge and NWS gauge 3 miles away show approximately that over that amount. 2.88” rain fell between 08:53 and 09:53 at the NWS gauge. 1.3” between 09:53 and 10:53, 0.39” between 10:53 and 11:53, 0.37” between 06:53 to 08:53.
Nothing in moderation, drought to deluge.

Re: How's your weather?
Up over 6” of rain today, my gauge and the NWS one 3 miles to the north, and it is still raining.
Unfortunately, A 5-10 mile wide stripe of continuous heavy showers and storms moving north has set up directly overhead. 90-95% of Texas isn’t getting any rain, the remainder is getting a little and we are the 1% of the state, ground zero champions for the most rain.
Weekend looks great, however, 78° for high, 50s at night. We just got to get there without floating away. Two more days with this pattern, maybe the stripe will set up somewhere else tomorrow and Thursday.

Re: How's your weather?
It got to 82° today, but I got it cooled off to 68° inside overnight, and it only got up to 76° inside after I closed it up. It seemed hotter out there, since I had gotten used to the cooler days! Supposed to get even warmer tomorrow, then humidity coming for Friday, then the bottom dropping out for the weekend, going from 10° above, to 10° below average! Seems typical for this last month!
