Today is another really bad weather day here. I think my 2nd set of buds might be too immature to be affected.

Yes, I tried to get an early(NDM), mid(Carrie- havent had one yet) and Kent is late. I also planted a Lemon Zest, because everyone on the mango forum loves this one. Dont know its season time.

I lived on Oahu. I wonder if I was only allergic to the mangoes there, or if I somehow outgrew it? I just know I love them.

I forgot all about this thread. Your mango trees are truly stunning. One of our mangos (Graham) never bloomed or did a darn thing except grow
for years and years. Then a hurricane pushed it nearly over and it is growing on its side and that’s when it started blooming. The stress must have done something to kick it into gear. DH plants trees from seeds that have sprouted around the trees despite me telling him not to. He gets these extremely tall , columnar type trees that don’t look good at all.

Maybe. Who knows? I know from dental school that sometimes people conquer their allergies, but who knows? Anyways, good you can eat them now, right?

Oh, you have got that right. I will keep him for sure and vice versa. We do have gardening in common
though we have our ‘little’ disagreements.

Some people with allergies cannot touch the skin, but can eat the fruit with no complications. With 39 different, grafted varieties in my yard I am very popular at the job in the summertime. Everyday is a Mango-fest.

You must have a huge yard. What are your top 10 mango varieties? What other fruit trees do you have?

Wow! What do you do with 400 mangoes besides eating them 3 times a day? Now that's a problem I'd love to have!

I visited the Fruit and Spice Park in Homestead a few years ago and was thrilled to see all the tropical fruits that can grow there! There is a whole section of mango trees, and I heard there was an annual mango festival (with tastings!!) in July at Fairchild Botanic Garden. I did not get a chance to visit Fairchild on that visit, and it was not mango season. Someday! I eat dried or frozen mango with my breakfast oatmeal most days.

I do a lot of dehydrating. The slices are heavenly, like candy.
They have over 70 different mango trees at the fruit and spice park. And you are welcome to anything on the ground. Love that place.
The mango festival is so fabulous too, Fairchild Botanical garden does it every year. You can buy everything imaginable that is mango.

Wow, you have it covered. Do you know which of the 4 NDM you have? Gary is supposed to be unreal great, so is M-4, and Mahachinook. I envy you. I am excited for Lemon Zest but I hear its not that productive. Here's wishing you a fabulous mango summer.

I only have 2 trees - Kent and Choc-Anon; Does your Choc-Anon have 2 harvests per year? Mine only has 1 harvest a year and it is the same time as the Kent.

There's a Mango Tree Growers of America page on facebook and I have been learning so much. Especially about tipping to get great production. Also, Dr. Campbell in homestead has bunches of fantastic videos. The on tipping, it's the practice of just pruning the ends to get a busier more branches tree, is so good. The more branhjng you have the more fruit it will make. Plus it keeps the tree with a broader growth instead of taller.

Haha, love "the one in my hand" Very true. You can now add Kent to your late ones. I adore my Kent, but so many on the mango pages and sites pooh pooh it. I think it's just delicious!
I do find that Kent is better if allowed to ripen in a paper bag in the House rather than on the tree, and it is anthracnose prone, so I always scrub the skin after picking mature size green, then rub cheap vodka on it to kill the bacteria. I know, weird, but it works, no anthracnose, and no gel seed where it fell, because it didn't fall!

Lemon Zest looks to be promising of a few. It has never held so many.
