My wife pointed out the background and shouldn't I have moved the egg shells, I am sure I can hear Harry Cabluck saying something similar...

Don't let her know that we all have a stash of egg shells sitting out so we didn't even notice them.

I've been trying to put all our eggshells in the fire, lately (apparently, they burn), along with our orange peels and stuff (we use the ash in the garden), but I think we actually have some on the counter, now, too. Yep.

That's great to hear that SotW tends to produce better than Brandywine. Brandywine can produce well in my area, though.

Ginger2778 thank you, but I just pot up and water, mother nature seems to be the main hand in it all.

I didn't know about Remy. I would have grown Stump if I had known.

By the way, if there is anyone in the Washington, DC area who wants to grow a plant in memory of Remy and didn't get one started, feel free to contact me.

My wife came back from one of her customers today and the lady is looking for a beefsteak tomato for her greenhouse. Luckily I am growing a few SOTW and they are at different stages - some old enough for the move. So, now is time for me to "pay it forward", from all you lovely people who have donated seeds in memory of Remy and the generosity of the MMMM, and now for me to pass this on. I shall let her know how to save seeds and, if she so wishes, perhaps do the same onwards.

This is very nice. Please tell her about the memorial grow out, and about Remy.

I don't know why I thought my 2015 SOTW seeds (from Remy) were too old. I put 10 of them on wet paper towel and potted up the first 5 to sprout a few days ago

I did not plant Stump this year and only germinated hybrid tomatoes this year and last year. I used a lot of compost from my compost bin in my beds this year which received many imperfect tomatoes over the years. Most of my beds have germinated many volunteer tomatoes from the compost. I've not grown potato leaf plants for many years, but many of the volunteer plants look identical to the PL plants in the photos on this thread. I often relocate and grow volunteer plants out of curiosity about what will develop. I often get very good plants with extreme hybrid vigor. This year I am wondering if I have some Stump volunteers.
