Picked my first ripe (non microdwarf) tomatoes yesterday! It is from one of my three Teensy Chocolate leads (Dwarf Tomato Project). Surely aided by our hot spring and summer thus far, but the earliness is astounding, even for these typically early cherries. First ripe: 38 days after plant out, 89 days after seed sowing!

Like I said with the hot weather and an effort to feed more heavily this year (in hopes from things I've read better fed plants will have more fungal foliage resistance), my tomato (and other plants) are having incredible early starts. A couple new to me varieties this year: Start S F1 tomato has at least 35 fruit set and Lilian's Yellow Heirloom already has at least 17 fruit set. Fruit set on other plants is also impressive and foliage health has been excellent so far, but do need to keep pruning for airflow and plant management and keep a very diligent eye as we have again received rain (after going 3-4 weeks with very little rain).

Hope the season keeps up like this and everyone's seasons are going well!

First Dwarf Eagle Smiley Yellow Cherry today! 99 days from seed sowing, 48 days from plant out. It is my 5th Teensy dwarf project plant to give ripe fruit. The three Teensy chocolate leads gave fruits at 89, 91, and 92 days from seed sowing and Teensy Pink (actually Ivory fruit) yielded at 96 days. Excited to see what is next.

Thanks all! Yes we adverted disaster by just a degree or two that night. I've got three cherry tomato plants already 5.5 feet tall. So far the dry weather, pruning and some copper spraying since rains returned have kept foliage remarkably healthy for July 1. I hope that keeps up!

Happy 4th of July everyone! Garlic harvest today! Chesnok red I've grown for years, probably the best harvest I've had, very consistent bulb size and rather large compared to most years, nearly every head is larger than golf ball.

First time growing Lillian's Yellow Heirloom. Above pictures are what I consider the first flush and second flush of fruits. I am beyond impressed with the number of fruit set on this plant and if the flavor is as good as described by those that grow it, we're going to be in for a treat come later July and August!

Very impressive production for Lillian's Yellow Heirloom, which is one of my favorites! Sadly, I didn't start any seeds this year so had to go with whatever plants I could find - the only place that had "Lillian's" had regular leaf plants (not potato leaf) and when I grew them one year they were very productive but orange and tasteless. No thank you. Lillian's is a true yellow, and potato leaf, with a lovely refreshing taste. Enjoy!

I was working on pruning and thinning plants this evening. Got to Dwarf Emerald Giant and almost fell over in disbelief, not 1, but 2 ripe tomatoes. That is 56 days after plant out and 107 days after seed. It’s been quite warm this spring and summer but I’m shocked. Last year it was 77, 126 days, respectively.

Very nice! How did these taste? I have seeds for Dwarf Emerald Giant but have never grown it.

They are a wonderful tomato, I grew them last year and the flavor on these was every bit I recall from last year. The plants are rather productive medium to large GWR beefsteaks with incredible flavor--rich, nicely acidic, sweet and juicy with good texture, all around a great tomato. They can be a little prone to Septoria leaf spot, but this year the weather and my diligence is winning thus far.
