Vermont Bean Seed catalog came yesterday. Geez, they've gone up a lot in price! They were a bit high in the past which is why I haven't ordered from them in ages, maybe 20 years but they still send the catalogs.

Both are for the stack of catalogs with no time to read. Some are from last year.

You have to realize that I'm sent a "catalog" of real seeds, not pictures and words, each year. It comes without a binding, all in loose form, from all over. We have a pharmacist as one of the co-authors. His penmanship is above average, compared to some others.

I got my Baker Creek and Seed Saver Exchange catalogs over the past couple of days. Yup, prices are high and getting higher! Quite possibly to help pay for the paper to print the lovely catalogs. I save seeds but there's always something new to try, right?

Delectation Of Tomatoes doesn't have a catalog, but has a nifty website (https://www.delectationoftomatoes.com/), and seeds for ~ 2500 varieties (per Dale Thurber) are $2.99 and shipping ($3.00) was lowest I encountered.

The kind of guy I prefer doing business with; promises a lot and delivers more!

This place also doesn't have a catalog, but it is one of two places that I have found as a source for Asian seeds, since that evergreenseeds, that used to be in CA, went out of business a few years ago. I ordered 9 packs of seeds from Chauly's Favorite Seeds last Wednesday, and got the seeds today, Monday! And every pack is priced @ $1.99, with a flat rate shipping of $5.25. They also have a lot of other seeds - I got a several other things that are cheaper than anywhere else I've found them. I also got 2 free seed packs. The bok choy and free mustard seeds have already sprouted in 2½ days.

I got my Baker Creek catalog yesterday, took a quick look, nothing very exciting or useful about it. My favorite so far is Sow True Seed. I have saved that one for the useful information, companion planting chart, timing, etc., contained inside. Fedco, Baker Creek, TGS, have already been trashed.

I got my Baker Creek catalog. I'm not looking...... for now. I went absolutely nuts buying seeds this year, anticipating huge increases. I am waiting for a giant order from Nikitovka and I am eyeing a TON of micro-dwarfs from HRSeeds. Somebody help me!

Actually, I should be good for years, and I can fill in any "holes" by trading. My husband thinks I am absolutely nuts.

"Somebody help me!"

"Hi, I'm @Stitchingmom...and I'm a problem Vegetable Seed Procurer."

Fellow sufferers, replying as one: "Hi Stitchingmom!"

"My husband thinks I am absolutely nuts."

The lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch can relate...

Speaking of whom, when I told her I'd been contemplating what goes where for 2023, she said I ought sketch out a plan.

Little did she know that the puzzle sheets on my Crossword Puzzle Clipboard, (in hand in-hand at least 90 minutes daily) have clipped underneath them my 2022 garden box schematic...which is...er...mentally reconfigured at least daily. I'd been at it a while, yet incuriously failed to mention it.

Heck, it's only 16 weeks (04/02/2023) from tomorrow that indoor Tomato planting commences in these here parts.

Two (2) orders delivered already, three more on the way...TGSC and Totally Tomatoes catalogs within less-than-an-arms-reach...eight (8) packets closer than that

And you's think you's have a problem...?

If he thinks you're nuts now, wait until you get your MMMM package.

I do need a bit more help, though. A wish list of just tomatoes and cucumbers ain't gonna cut it. What else, in veggie/fruit/flower seed?

Baker Creek and Jung came yesterday. Is it my imagination or is the Baker Creek catalog a lot thinner than usual? Hmmm... short pause while I fetch last year's and compare.... yep, last year's catalog was 162 pages and this year's is 86. Wow, that's quite a reduction. I know right off the bat they're dropped kohlrabi entirely so I really need to save seed of the one I love this year. The next rainy day we have I might just sit down and compare the two to see what's been dropped. No doubt printing costs and paper shortages might have a hand in that. Maybe they've cut the size of photos or reduced plant descriptions. We'll see.

Jung's prices for most everything are now beyond what I'm willing to pay, especially when I can get the same for less elsewhere. Over the past five years I've been reducing hybrids grown and experimenting with OP replacements that will perform adequately. No need for expensive hybrid summer squash as the vine borers don't care if they are ruining pricey hybrids or less expensive OP's! :D

Still waiting for Southern Exposure to come. Their website is still the 2022 version and they said they are revamping their whole website so I guess I have to wait. I like to have all my seed ordered by New Year's Eve.

This year I have just a few things to reorder as well as some new "toys". :)

Blauer Speck.

Hmmm, out of curiosity I just went to their website and it seems that they are still carrying kohlrabi, including this one. Now I'm wondering if their catalog is just highlighting the new offerings, most popular and most photogenic varieties they carry. Inquiring minds want to know! :D

BC's large catalog has Blauer Speck, and I was wondering how good it is. One of my favorite varieties is Kolibri, and only one OP purple I have gotten - Azure Star - grew almost as fast, without turning woody. However, it's been "out of stock" at Gourmet Seeds for a long time (not just this season), and I've been looking for an OP variety to replace it. Good to know you like it so much!

@GoDawgs Their full catalog, that you have to pay for, is a work of art. Worth it just for the pictures.

It is much bigger than the one that I receive in the mail and I can get it at my grocery store on the magazine rack.

If you need any Blauer Speck, the swap has some. I just listed all brassicas in the 2022 non-tomatoes/peppers thread.
