I love most everything about gulf coast living...except these hurricanes. Anyhow, Nice evening out here, not much more than a little breeze and a pretty sunset, amazing with a cat. 4 storm 100 or so miles out there. I’m fearful for the folks over in Western Louisiana, not looking too great for them.

Well I would take up a collection to get him out of jail but any bonafide Cajun that makes Gumbo Texas Style kinda has it coming. He's gotta learn his lesson, after all. But I hope everyone in the path of the surge gets out. There is gonna be a lot of damage if they are right, and areas that are wiped off the map, they say. I hope they are wrong anyway.

I'm fine and waiting like a kid in a candy store for some wind to blow. I won't flood so it's just a wind thing and it's barely blowing.

Well... we had "sympathy rain" and "sympathy wind" yesterday, that was not forecast to be windier than normal but it was enough to blow over one of my pea trellis. I ran out when it stopped just before dark and picked the thing up and tacked on some braces. Gotta love sisal, i'm so glad I was generous with that because the seed that's hanging there doesn't look much the worse for wear.

Had a sympathy wind burst just go through here, around 55 mph. Blew the covers off the greenhouses where I have moved the potted up tomatoes to, but fortunately no damage to the plants and not cold enough to upset them. Wilsons Prometory scored a gust of 98 mph.

I survived without major damage, just a huge mess in the yard and the water has already dropped. I hope it stops raining and the wind blows all day to dry out the property so I can start cleaning.

100° heat index here today, but that's a minor thing, compared to the problem some of you have. I didn't do much today, since I had an appointment, but I could still go out. It's very windy today (not from Laura), so it doesn't feel like 100 in the shade.

Zero rain here and we need it. No rain in sight. Pretty hot, too. Grateful the storm Laura missed us, sorry for the great people of Louisiana that had to suffer through that monster. Mostly wore out mentally and physically from preparing for a possible hurricane strike, I know those in path in Louisiana are only beginning their struggles.

we are getting plenty of rain here. no need to water the past couple weeks. only problem is
there is early blight on the tomatoes that loves the weather. spraying daconil a few times has slowed it
down a bit, but haven't been able to do it often enough due to rain. the non rain days have been mostly
warmish with highs in the mid 70s, and lows in the 50s. beans have been affected a bit. some of the provider
beans have been squishy with mold in spots, and i am seeing some black spots on some of the pole bean vines.
that doesn't happen too often here.
the winter squash is loving the weather. i have a 20ft by 35ft end of the garden that is covered by vines that are
looking to expand their ground. can't walk around too well in that end of the garden. greens in the garden are also very happy.

Spring has sprung here, maximum temperatures over the next week are between 60 and 73F. Perfect growing temperatures. Way it is looking could harden plants off and plant a month early

Temperatures are forecast for a high of 101˚F(38.3˚C) Sunday, followed by a high of 59˚F(15˚C) on Tuesday with a low of 39˚F(3.9˚C) on Wednesday morning. Looks like I may have to cover all my peppers and tomatoes to be on the safe side.

we are getting knocked around again with gusty winds up to 40mph.
squash is beat up, tomato plants knocked over again, and a 7 ft tall bean fence
that runs north to south had to be reinforced with my son helping. the fence is
like a big sail. bean vines are taking a licking. pole beans growing on fences running
east to west are faring much better.
we had some cloud burst rain earlier
in the day, but now its just windy. nope, it is raining again.

We are smooth sailing going into September with forecast highs 21-24 C for the next week... (if they're right of course). That is low 70's F in tomato numbers, nights in the mid 50's, Goldilocks.
I regret that the tall trees are telling me it's fall, because the sun angle is already getting so much lower, so the sunny part of day is getting short here in the woods.

Better weather all next week.

Amen to that, Brother Worth! The choir here is singing your song. It was 65 this morning and maybe 55 tomorrow morning with days mid-to upper 80's and a breeze. I'll take that all day long. Time to shut off the AC at night, open up the house and listen to all those night sounds, not to mention changing out the air.

Temperature is supposed to hit 99˚ today, 50mph winds to blow in around midnight and reach the day's high of 45˚ on Tuesday morning...a difference of 54 degrees in less than12 hours. Not sure just how I am going to cover certain plants without the wind lifting off the covers. I am hoping that the pond's water temperatures protect the water hyacinths from meeting an early trip to the compost pile. Watching the news reports, the snow could stay farther west in the mountains or I could see an inch or two by Wednesday. It will be interesting to see how this turns out...
