Death penalty state, yes, but it takes something like 20 plus/minus years to kill some one who is convicted and sentenced. I think it would deter robberies more.

I believe the perpetrators of a lot of these mass attacks tend to see themselves as the true victims. Maybe they were actually victimized by bullying, or an unfair system, or some other group or whatever or maybe it was more of some twisted sense or false perception of being under attack, but a lot of them seem to be lashing out at their “oppressors”.

There’s sort of circular thinking going on. A grievance, real or imagined, nurtured and fully developed, maybe some outside hateful voices from online, dark web or other materials that fertilize the growing sense of being woefully wronged. Seems like the world for them shrinks down to the oppressed, themselves, and the oppressors. Somehow in these people’s minds, eventually the only way forward becomes a homicidal/suicidal attack on the oppressors.

I get a sense that the perpetrators in these mass attacks feel that no one understands their plight or really cares about them and they turn that into why should I care about them. Life becomes such a daily torture of rage and hurt and it builds into something monstrous.

Maybe there’s an effort to learn more about the perpetrators of various mass shootings or attacks. Find some common denominators in each and then work on some solutions to not having these folks go so far off the rails that they want to hurt or kill so many people.

Capital punishment and torture has been around for ages.
But this is a subject better discussed in another area not here.
The direction has went from building a new school for these children to what could possibly be a controversial discussion on the death penalty.

Allow me to clarify then, I think a higher minimal sentencing number without a parole option, would deter armed robberies and such.

As for building a new school, I think the old one is still good, children are more resilient than many think. There is probably no where on land (just about) that some one or more than one person, has not died on that particular earth. There are entire graveyards that are lost to history.

The frigging school is over 60 years old and the kids need a new school.
It was the segregated school for Mexican Americans for years.

I'm not heated Im just stating a fact.
The area is extremely poor with no real tax base.
It's like this all over Texas and as far as I know other states.
I can probably go as far as saying I've been in more schools than any other person on this forum.
I can see the difference in these schools by where they are at.
Some are total dumps.
They would have to completely rip the interior of the school out and start from scratch.
They don't do this because they start in the summer and we have to be finished before school starts.
What you end up with is very poor quality workmanship due to time limitations.
Some of these schools don't even have working drinking fountains.
Some schools in Austin have an inch of rat crap in the ceiling of the kitchen.
I'm not exaggerating is a literal rats nest.
The school I'm working in now is infested with roaches.
I turn the lights on first thing in the morning and they are everywhere.

i had a telemarketer call earlier today. it was an indian sounding fellow, polite, so i was polite too.
here is how the conversation went.

hello, how are you?
i'm good.
the reason for my call is i want to tell you about some medicare changes.
okay, but before you do, i just want to tell you that we are not partakers of the medical care system because
first, they will take every dime you own, then, after they have all your money, they kill you.

pause

i'm sorry to have bothered you. have a nice day.

Some time ago there was a head on collision causing the deaths of 9 people in West Texas.
First reports were the father was letting his 10 year old son drive.
After DNA evidence was examined it turns out the father was driving and had meth in his system.

I'm sure we've all heard the news by now.
How on earth does a wrinkled old man Errol Musk have children by a woman they raised since they were 4 years old?
Totally creepy and weird if you ask me.

I have never in all the 30 some odd years been hugged by a coworker because they were excited about doing something right.
But it happened to me this week.
She is a young Hispanic lady we hired a few weeks ago.
Her and another young lady are probably the most enthusiastic workers we have.
Far surpassing the guys when it comes to their jobs.

so, i get another telemarketer call yesterday offering help on paying off my credit card loans of three months or longer.
the first call i just hung up. the second call, i decided it was time to mess with them. i press one for a representative.
after a minute or so of listening to terrible hold music, i get india guy on the line offering his assistance in getting me out of
my financial dilemma.
i asked him are you giving me money for real?
yes, .......something i didn't catch.
and is this going to cost me anything or is this just free money.
something else i didn't quite catch.
so, what bank is your credit card with.
i don't have a bank account.
you don't have a bank account?
oh no, i don't have a bank account.
then where do you keep your money?
i keep it underneath my pillow.

dead line

he didn't even tell me to have a nice day.

i can't wait for the next call.
spoiler alert, it will involve mystery, intrigue, and the bermuda triangle.

I get an official looking letter, if I didn’t look too close, in the mail. Letter says in effect I drove through a toll booth and now owe $16.67. There’s a photo of the supposed infraction, but trouble is the photo is of a Chevy and the vehicle in question is a Toyota. The license plate in the photo does not match the vehicle plates in question. The notice does have the correct plate number in the body of the letter.

My son and I went on Google maps and plugged in the address of the notice. Some place right on the Border with Mexico. We went to street view, a sketchy tiny low rent building with one door and some little sign out front. Phone number reverse look up yield something totally different.

I went on the Attorney General of Texas website and did their online complaint form for mail fraud. Uploaded photos of the letter to the complaint form.

Who knows if it will go anywhere. I did this late on Friday so maybe I’ll get a response from the Attorney General’s office at some point, I hope so.

The letter I received has enough accurate information in it to deceive the gullible or perhaps more senior people slipping a bit into paying these creeps. How many people have handed over their credit card and paid these crooks? Once you pay them, who know what scam is next.

I do hope the state follows up.

Folks I got a job dumped on me that was almost an impossibility to accomplish.
It was a dreaded school job changing out the fire alarm system..
It was started last summer and the guy running it put it in the tank.
The job wasn't able to be completed but the system was up enough for the school to open.

Jump forward I was sent to run and finish the job.
I didn't think it was possible and had no idea why this people put me in charge.
It was a nightmare from the beginning.
The head person in charge of the company said it was a nightmare.
I asked why in hell did you put me in charge.
I was told if anybody could pull it off I could.
Really.
I'm a buffoon to say the least wrong guy.
I spent so many sleepless nights worrying about the job.
There was so much work left to do and so little time.
Only one person had experience.
The rest were new hires that didn't know anything.
One was 17 years old.
Two quit for whatever reason.
Thousands of feet of wire had to be pulled in a 30 year old school building.
Well by darn we pulled it off.
If it wasn't completed on time it would end up in a lawsuit.
Heads would roll.
The fire alarm system passed the inspection today and the school can open this fall.
Probably the worst job if done in years.
