Augusta, GA is one of the least windy cities on average in the US (I looked it up). My area is about 50% windier than Augusta on average. Cloudy here today, 67° wind 13mph out of the east. Higher wind speeds tomorrow with a chance of thunderstorms. Beautiful weekend on tap, low winds, sunny skies, mild temperatures.

Well, the averages here have been thrown out the window lately. LOL! Today's recap:

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - High pressure centered west of the region today with low pressure to our north gave us breezy conditions. Wind gusts maxed out at 33 MPH in Augusta with gusts over 20 MPH across the region. Lows tonight will fall into the upper 30s and low 40s with mostly clear skies turning mostly cloudy by Thursday morning.

6-7 mph tomorrow and then 15 mph with higher gusts Friday as a front and possible t-storms come through.

Today the temp got to 53°, but the wind was 46 mph gusts, and mid 20s for sustained winds, so I put off rolling that tarp off the rosemary 'til tomorrow - only getting to 43°, but winds only up to 5-10 mph. The snow has already melted, so that's a good thing. Friday is forecast to be raining most of the day, and back in the 50s and windy.

We're having a gusty week here ourselves, not that it's too unusual but moderate gales and gusting in the high 40's mph do not make a nice day to be in the woods, especially after so much rain to saturate the soil and the wood itself, plus freeze and thaw.
Last night I read that we've had about 52cm of snow this winter to a normal of close to 200 cm by this date. And St. John's is not only the windiest city in Canada, it's also the snowiest! At about 335 cm/132 inches per year. That may seem paltry compared to da UP though, eh Keith?

Based on the 10 day forecast and other longer range forecasts, I will likely direct seed some pole beans, cucumbers and squash next week.

I’ll probably also do a few squash and cucumber seeds in 20ounce containers as insurance.

Tomatoes aren’t ready yet. No rush on those.

@bower Looks like my area is getting some of your snow. Overnight, at least 3 or more inches of snow has fallen, with more on the way. Total seasonal snowfall is at least double our normal. But relief is on the way...supposed to get to 65˚F(18˚C) by Sunday!

The upcoming week looks fantastic for getting stuff done. February has generally been a busy month in the garden.

Woke up this morning and I had forgotten to close the front door.
Brrrrrrrrr.

Yes it was really nice out yesterday evening and the air was fresh and clean.
I was so tired I ate and went directly to bed.
It was 60 degrees in the house when I got up.
No heater running.
But I still didn't get dressed and sat there in the cold enjoying every minute of it.
I also stopped drinking coffee some time back.

I got lucky today, as it stopped raining for the brief time I had to go out, in late morning/early afternoon. It was 45° then, and it's gone up a couple of degrees, and now, at 4 pm, it's raining hard out there, and dark, and the temp is supposed to be going up through around midnight, before it stops raining, and the temp starts coming down. Next two days cooler, but only around average 42°, then into the high 50s Monday.

Right now it's 33% humidity.
Perfect for my oil drying project.

The rainy season has resumed! We had the first rains today since the beginning of January. The forecast shows rain every day for the next ten days. Yesterday I finally planted some natives that had survived being in containers for up to seven years. This weekend, between raindrops, I will finally plant garlic and. peas. One of the virtues of a winter garden here is that you don't need to water it, but that has not been true this winter. I've been waiting for the rains to resume to plant my peas, and I hope it's not already too late!

If it gets cold again the onions will probably bolt in the first year.

This is the month when snow usually builds up here, but it won't be this week. Highs shooting up into the 40's F on Tuesday and again on Friday, with moderate gales from the South and some kind of slushy or alternating mix of precip to hurtle around in the wind. I hope it's not enough to get a freeze of the chop at night, stuck to the ground.

It was 86 today and the 10-day is showing everything above 70. "Spring" is here.

It was 54° out there today, and almost no wind, so I went out there today and weedwacked, for the first time this year! Not really weeds growing yet - just dead weeds and herbs out there, but stuff that I could clean up. Cooler tomorrow, but still above average, and getting windy, and getting below average Wednesday, then a storm into Thursday, starting out icy, but all melting, as it's getting back into the 50s, later on. So I got a little done out there, while I could.

Definitely getting something closer to a true summer here, last 3 days have had highs of 40..3C/104.5F, 37.7C/ 100F and today 38.9C/102F before a cool change that has dropped temperature by 14C/25F in last 3 hours.

So much for worrying about overnight low temps! I have to make sure seedlings don't get cooked in the greenhouse. It'll go down to 40F or so next week, so the greenhouse gets closed at sundown. Hopefully we won't have any surprise 30's.

It hit 80 here yesterday in this current warm spell that is supposed to continue into next week. But looking at past data it's not unusual as there's usually a warm spell in February. However that's mostly in the second half of the month. In 2017 we had 16 days with highs in the 70's and one 80.

highs have been in the teens to low 20s. lows have been single digits.
it snowed all but two days in january, no big dumpings however. getting
closer to 200 inches of snow fall. plenty on the ground for skiers and
snowmobilers, and the businesses that count on snow to make money to be happy.
blizzard conditions could happen thursday with several inches of snow,
and high winds up to 55 mph predicted across the keweenaw. we will not
be going anywhere tomorrow unless its unavoidable.
currently 13 degrees, and the sun is peeking out now and then.
