Keeping to the cake theme-
Our batter was given two much water over the past two days. The dry ingredients could barely absorb it! Then we were frosted overnight. Both walking and driving will be very interesting until things dry out! We're supposed to get more water and more frosting mid-week. Somebody needs to go to cooking school! The only thing holding our cake together is that it's frozen.

Someone left the cake out in the rain. I don't think that I can take it 'cause it took so long to bake it...

I just heard thunder. So, I quickly checked the radar, and it looks like I am about to get hammered. The only thing I prep is having a working flashlight ready.

Let me know what I can do. Maybe we can resurrect the tomato tasting gatherings. We used to get together in Lincoln but the Omaha area would work. The vortex can turn to rain and be more welcome, but the snow blower is still in the garage.
That is a good idea. Did you have a place in mind? I'll have to check around. I'll ask my extension agent.

82° again today, but we got some heavy rain, with a drop in 20° already, and tomorrow morning they are talking about wind chills again! 57° for a high the next couple of days - about average - then warmer again, along with some more rain. I'm still hearing thunder in the distance, but it clears up around 3 am. I'll find out in the morning how much came down.

We gathered in a park with tables and a shelter. I am not sure if any of the past participants are still into tastings. Can’t hurt to see who would have interest. The extension would be a good start especially if Backyard Farmer could get involved. Plenty of time. We always waited until the first of August.

I'll pass the BF idea along! It may fall under the Food and Nutrition folks rather than Urban Garden.

Fortunately all we got from that nasty storm line yesterday was a lot of thunder and 1" of rain but no heavy winds. Whew!

Cooler here today - about 25° lower for the high, and still at 48° a little after noon! Rained a little over 1¼" last night, and I just heard that March had the most rain here since last March - a little over 5"; though we're still in a drought, my area is only about 6" short of the water we should have, down from around 10+", so things are improving.

Yesterday we had showers, and highs of 14C, nearly 60F.
Back to reality, highs in the 30's F today and for a week onward.

the cakes ruined.
ITS RUINED!!!!
we had some crazy weather move in. hard granular snow pelted us for a couple hours.
winds were gusting between 40 and 50 mph, just nasty out. then it changed to sleet for
another storm burst that was accompanied by thunder and lightening. the weather station
said we got 6.5 inches of snow. temp was about 30 degrees. we are over 300 inches of snow
for the winter season. i will be out there with the plow truck, and tractor to see which one is
going to work best.
the cake
it is a misshaped imploded blob of colors run together. not much good for anything.

82°, 28° C. Breezy, strong flow coming straight from the Caribbean Sea over the Gulf and that means a juicy atmosphere. All that is about to dramatically change to where Sunday the high will be 61° and three consecutive nights in the high 40s.

It got up to 74° yesterday, around 4:30 pm, and it was still at 74° at 11:30! It didn't rain heavily until several hours later, and it was being blown against the house so hard that it sounded like hail (maybe it was hail)! I'm glad I shut my windows before going to bed! Had a few heavy rains come through, but they were fast moving. It looks like I got over 1¼" overnight. Supposed to stay in the mid 60s today, and just down in the mid 50s overnight (58° normal high for this time), staying in the 50s Saturday, back in the 70s again for Sunday, before going down to normal several days in a row. And one day almost a week away, with a freeze, but I'll wait a while, before getting too worried.

Definitely cooling off here in this part of OZ. Yesterday was only 16C/61F, our coolest day for months with about 1/4 inch of rain overnight. Today about 20C/68F with possibility of more showers before gradually building back up to around 30C/86F next weekend.

Feels absolutely Arctic out there in spite of being only 50°. Must be the 20+ mph, gusting to 30+ NW winds that account for how cold it seems. Went out and tied, reinforced the ties for a few tomatoes and a pepper or two. My pole beans, however, are taking a beating in the wind. The bamboo supports are fine and staying vertical, but pole beans, the rather delicate leaves take a beating and hate being whipped around in these extreme winds. Unfortunately, this stand of pole beans is especially exposed to winds from the exact vector the winds are coming from, any other angle would be much preferable. I have a wind block in the form of pampas grass and yaupon holly to the north, but there’s a gap in the screening vegetation right behind this bed. Like a wind tunnel it is. I do have maybe 12 feet of bush beans planted as an insurance policy.
They are saying it will be 41° tonight and 42° tomorrow night. Getting a bit late here for this type of nonsense.

I think we're actually going to hit 100 this time. Gorgeous out today though.
