We've received a bit of rain over the past two nights! This is good because the grass is greening and the garlic has perked right up! I can see the tulips from my deck and my neighbor's daffs have bloomed. Yay Spring!

With hail in the forecast, I just spent the past 2 hours moving all my container plants inside and covering up a few others with buckets. And I am soaked in sweat. I am either a dedicated gardener or a raving fanatic however one wants to look at it.

So far, fingers crossed up, it's been raining off and on all day and currently, not hard and the ground is soaking it up. Wind is not acting naughty, and while there's lots of grumbly and growly thunder at a distance, not a lot of lighting. Maybe get my earlier wish !!
Cool enough indoors to wear my ratty old cardigan sweater, but still in shorts, making it goofy! Good sleeping weather, just enough cool to appreciate the comforter, but nice enough to not want 2 of them.

Good news for my area, bad news for some south and east of us. Good soaking rains here, just what I wished for, but some flooding from much heavier rains to the east. Few roads flooded at points, and of course some tried to drive through the flooded areas. Good thing, no one died and the heavy rains were also over our watershed area and lakes, so it helps with the normal droughtiness ( is that a ward??) around here. People should treat each drop of water as precious regardless of lake levels, the days of being wasteful are gone, if ever here water wise.
Beautiful sunny day, not going to get too hot, the weeds are agrowing! Lush and green they are.
In another few days supposed to have good rain chances again for off and on showers times 5 days or so.

Dark here and thundering. Flashes of distant lightning, nothing closer than three or four miles yet. Not really any real rain yet either. Weather service has chance of pea sized hail and strong winds in next thirty minutes, please no hail.

Downright nasty here today. Sleety snow coming down and wind will pick up to a moderate NW gale this afternoon. At mid-afternoon my temperature is reading 0.1C by the door, where trimmed greens, arugula and celeriac are sheltered, other sensor says 2C down in the valley where about a hundred strawberry plants are hunkered down in buckets covered with a cloth.
The wind is taking my cloth, darn it... I'll have to go back outside.

1.6 inches, 40mm have fallen according to gauge in the garden, barely sprinkling now. No #%*=~ hail or bad wind either.
Best case scenario.

got the old wintry mix going here.
woke up to rain then sleety rain, and now snow showers. there isn't going to
be any accumulation to deal with. temp is 35, and won't get much higher than
that. north wind blowing at 13 mph makes it nice to be inside in front of the wood
stove. after today, it starts warming up some. night time temps will be just above freezing
a few days in a row. we are slooooooowly getting there. can't nothing happen outside until
we lose the snow.

Yard has been mowed, weeds cut back, going to have to shift barrels and weed eat tomorrow or the next day. Sunny and 80F here now, gentle breeze huffing now and then. Some small tornadoes spawned out of the last storms, but brought the combined lakelevels to 69.5 per cent. Got about 1.7 inches over the watershed areas.

I'll raise you a pack of Faribo Goldheart seeds. Tornado sirens going off now, but it appears I am between rotations. Isolated baseball sized hail. More common ping pong or golf ball sized.
Oops I spoke too soon... 3 inch hail to my south.
Signing off, good to see you are well and back!

The storm clouds I described above passed to my north but developed into a designated catastrophic storm which caused damage in a very small area well to the northeast city limits. I was calm knowing I was safe, but hearing there was a destructive tag gives me a very unsettling feeling in the spring. In the back of my mind I wonder if a family member caught be outside when doing normal things. Anyway, the result was four homes took a severe hit, with no human injuries. Thank goodness for our weather team!
Then last night around 10pm the tornado sirens were sounded in error. This is getting old and considering the close last year with the tornado coming close it gives me that sinking feeling. Storms popped up out of nowhere on the northwest side of the city tracking straight east, Hail was "just" a sloppy inch as it passed over the NWS office. {The hail size for "severe" 3 inches}. A human typo sounded the sirens. Such angry people today, the radar clearly showed the red graphic where the cell location was. The nasty storms crossed the river into Iowa where it weakened.
At least I had about a 3 minute warning to take my 4 favorite seedling trays back in the house as fast as possible till I saw lightening, thankfully all for naught. Can May and June be even more fun!

Mostly light rain at the moment. A little rumble of thunder here and there. Flow has been off the gulf for days, but not coming so much out of the Caribbean, but more from the direction of Florida. A persistent flow like that this time of year means dewpoints hovering around 70° and moderate temperatures, but not astronomical high dewpoints or too much of the deep tropical heat of the Caribbean Sea. Not Saigon or Manila tropical at any rate. Sticky, not oppressive.
