Day 76 of 2025-21st Century Silver Jubilee Year Of The BLT!, 289 remain. The Faith and Begorrah St. Paddy's Day Monday Morning BLT Brunch participants are a nice Yeller (which turned Orange) and Purple, both nice-n-firm, from Woodman's fine $1.79/lb. selection:

Astern:
thumbnail_IMG_3659.jpg
Sliced; what glistening glamor, am I right?
thumbnail_IMG_3660.jpg
Dig In:
thumbnail_IMG_3661.jpg
Given the time of year, well above average tastiness, which even the lovely and long suffering Mrs. "my least favorite Tomato is any that's store bought" Gotch saw fit to mention. The overall nod went to the Purple this time.

Day 83 of 2025-21st Century Silver Jubilee Year Of The BLT!, 282 remain. Today's Monday Morning BLT Brunch participants were a nice Yeller & Reddy from Woodman's $1.79/lb. Heirloom selections:

Under/Over:
thumbnail_IMG_3668.jpg
Sliced:
thumbnail_IMG_3669.jpg
And Ready for Delicious:
thumbnail_IMG_3670.jpg
The Reddy was near perfect firmness, but a tad underwhelming taste-wise; the Yeller a tad softish, but trés tasty with a citrusy hint.

Day 90, and the Quarter Pole of 2025-21st Century Silver Jubilee Year Of The BLT!, 275 remain. Today's Monday Morning BLT Brunch participants, a Pinky and a Purple, are courtesy of Metro Market:
thumbnail_IMG_3694.jpg
Backside:
thumbnail_IMG_3695.jpg
Sliced; both were optimum firmness, a real pleasure to cut, and a visual extravaganza:
thumbnail_IMG_3696.jpg
Served up:
thumbnail_IMG_3697.jpg
Both had a nice taste-n-texture; the Purple had a sweet tinge along with its customary tang. If there's a better way to start the week other than with four (4) @Mark_Thompson©™® certified Wedge Cut Tomatoes, swathed with Mayo, fresh Lettuce, Bacon(oh yeah...BACON!), and nestled inside a Whole Wheat Pocketless Pita, I ain't found it, yet.

Damn Pinky is a beeeeeg boy! I’ve got a few fruits on the plant that might be pushing that size, but I won’t be talking about them to avoid any kind of bad luck befalling them. @Cornelius_Gotchberg you’re doing heroic work here holding things down solo

Inside a pocketless pita? Does that mean between two halves of a pocketless pita?

Kontos (https://kontos.com/product/10020/) cut in half, and folded over. Not a big fan of toasted bread for samitches unless they're Toasted Cheese or Reubens; with the latter usually open faced.

An open-faced Reuben? I'd need half a box of toothpicks to hold one together.

The lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch piles the meat-n-kraut high, but melts the cheese so it settles around the ingredients and anchors them to the bread; it stays together...naturally!

Gotta hand it to ya, you Wisconsinites know your cheese. Way up high on the sandwich, I wouldn't have thought that it would melt very well.

Us normies, with a 2 slice-o-bread sandwich, put the cheese close to the bread (on the inside of both sides of the sandwich) so that the cheese on one side heats up quickly. Then flip and repeat. And, to me, any sandwich with 2 slices of grilled bread is better than one with a single slice.

I'm fine with an open faced sandwich if the bread isn't grilled/toasted.

Can't find any pics of the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch's O(pen) F(ace) Reubens, will post at the next opportunity.

She got the idea from my Dear late Mother who made them (broiled!) for my Dear late Father, who would've turned 100 tomorrow. They were his absolute favorite, and his request for the main dish of any non-holiday special meal.

Maybe it is a Wisconsin thing. I have been putting the cheese on the top since forever if I want it melted.

Knowing those seeds traveled 4091 miles/6584 kms (https://www.google.com/search?q=madison ... nt=gws-wiz) in an envelope I signed-n-sealed myself and resulted in that there Beaut is indeed gratifying!

That that Guido was properly prepared according to strict @Mark_Thompson Wedge-Cut©™® standards? Priceless!

Flip Side:
thumbnail_IMG_3739.jpg
Sliced, what better way to start a Monday Morning than having these lookers starin' you's down:

And plated, went with Rosen's Sourdough today, left over from National Grilled Cheese Samitch Day (viewtopic.php?t=6273):
thumbnail_IMG_3742.jpg
thumbnail_IMG_3741.jpg
The Yeller was its usual superbly balanced tastiness (which even drew a reluctant nod from the lovely and long suffering Mrs. Gotch!), and the Purple had hint of smokiness.

While I'm not a huge fan of winter tomatoes, I too from time to time will pick up an heirloom or two from Metro Market. I agree that even though I am not a fan of yellow/orange tomatoes that these rule for the sorely winter tomatoes from Metro Market. I have had a few nice purples but they are far and few between. Nay on the reds and pinks that I so adore in my garden.

Day 111 of the 2025-21st Century Silver Jubilee Year Of The BLT!, 261 remain. Today's Monday Morning BLT Brunch participants were acquired from a new (on sale @$2.99/lb) source Metcalfe's/Sentry. Should have stopped by Woodman's, where @bboomer discovered the $1.79/lb. Heirlooms were back; sigh!

Anywho, an nice Purple and Yeller/Reddy Bi-Color:

Downside Up:

Sliced, (using the patented @Mark_Thompson ©™® certified Wedge Cut Method!) if there's anything quite like a shimmering Tomato slice winking back at you's, The Gotch has yet to see it:

And plated:

Firm and "Tomatoey Tasty," if that makes sense. And deliciously dressed with a freshly opened jar of Duke's Mayo? Fuggedabouddit!
