Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
I knew a guy years ago that painted all of his tools yellow to prevent theft. His tools stood out like a sore thumb. He said nobody would steal them because they were so ugly and if they did they couldn't be pawned for the same reason. I once watched him take a new Port-A-Band saw out of the box and spray it yellow.

I considered painting everything too.Vanman wrote: ↑Tue Oct 03, 2023 6:49 pm I knew a guy years ago that painted all of his tools yellow to prevent theft. His tools stood out like a sore thumb. The stuff that got stolen from me was the company tools.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
If I didn't mention it somebody got their Milwaukee battery stolen on the job and another crew got their Milwaukee drill stolen at another job.
I spoke with the construction superintendent and he said if anyone got caught stealing they were going to call the constable or police.
No just getting kicked off the job.
Pawn shops are full of battery operated tools with one battery and no charger or extra battery.
Obviously stolen goods.
I frigging hate pawn shops.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
And another thing.
It's happened all too often.
I tell people to lock the lock and cable back up around something after they get a ladder or whatever.
They don't and I've came back and the lock and or cable has been stolen.
If you leave a gold master lock unlocked it's free game for anyone.
It's easy to change the combination if it's unlocked.
They're expensive too.
I have my own two sets and a lock and cable costs about 50 dollars now.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
Well I just found out today that the very best most hard working smartest foreman the former company I worked for got a job doing Fire alarm for Tesla.
What really drove the nail was the company tried to pay him the money he was offered or more.
That did it.
So you're now willing to pay me what I'm worth?
Forget it.
I told this guy a long time ago to put his feelers out because he was being exploited.

I had the dreaded nightmare last night where big mean people are trying to kill me and my damned gun won't work.

You think that's what's causing those weird dreams? Hmmmmm...
I'm still not going to lay off those spicy foods, at any time of the day!

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
My favorite dreams are when I can run super fast and jump impossibly high or fly. If I could ever link those dreams to food I eat I’d eat that food every day. The flip side is when I dream that I want to throw a hard punch and I’m so weak and slow that punching with any force is impossible or that I need to run and my feet are like they are stuck in wet concrete.

Worth maybe that is your subconscious telling you your gun isn't the answer. Find another way of dealing with the problem.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
The above picture is of a Bass guitar I finally decided to get yesterday.
Nothing expensive but something of good quality.
A Yamaha TRBX174EW.
Mahagany body with Mango wood on the face with rosewood fingerboards and solid maple kneck.
Been wanting one for many years.
I actually got advice from a paid musician I know about it and he got input from a bass player as well.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
Sometimes the more I open my big mouth the more my foot goes into it.
But it isn't really my fault it's the fault of the person I'm around.
But it still makes me feel a little funny.
Just the other day I used the word eccentricity and the person has no idea what I was talking about.
I constantly find myself having to explain a definition to this person during conversation.
Phrases like virtue signaling and so on.
Same age as me but totally lacking in knowledge beyond a small portion of his little world.
And for the most part doesn't want to know.
This isn't a stray away from the above bass and it fits right into it.

Re: Stochastic Contemplations.
I've spent over an hour each day practicing the darn bass.
Yesterday on Friday I spent a lot more time.
This morning I got up and practiced for about 5 hours.
My theory is to get my fingers used to moving around on the board and making some for of melody without rattling the strings.
Just getting broke in to being able to make notes in my own way.
There really isn't any set rules other than to sound good.
Not trying to copy any music out there because to me that would be an instant disappointment.
Not to worry even though I can't actually play a guitar or a bass I can tune both.
Seems strange but it's true.
I've been able to do it since I was in highschool.
I've also had time to check the rascal out for fit and finish.
No discrepancies at all.
If there's any problems with the bass it's my fault not the fault of the bass.
Oddly enough setting up machines helps in setting up an instrument the principals are really close to each other.
The reason for the purchase was my health.
Music soothes the sole and helps with your health.
It's a proven fact.
I've always made up bass tunes in my head I like without hearing them on the radio.
By buying the bass and leaning I can now create the music I like without depending on other people to do it.
Strangely enough the last few nights have been my best sleep in ages.
The deep bass notes are very soothing to me.
As a child I could play piano by ear.

I tried to watch “The American Buffalo” by Ken Burns. It was way too sad for me.

Now THAT is an accomplishment !!
Just think, Dumbo could have really been amazing as a player, not only huge floppy ears, but a trunk !
