@Cornelius_Gotchberg If you were a betting man, what Monday would you wager you’ll be having your first home garden tomato BLT on?

~Three (3) months from today...?

It would hard to surpass the exquisite serendipity of last year's, which fell on July 22nd (viewtopic.php?p=129260#p129260), and led off with Big Lou

July 22nd also happens to be (and THIS is where it gets GOOD!) National BLT Day!

EDIT: HeyZeus Alou; this here thread may hit 10000 views by May Day!

Homemade meat, greens, and fruit. Cut open a King Kong that was grown in a pot, but the texture left a bit to be desired, so fell back to a smaller Sutherland’s, no complaints on that one.

No kidding; posting such images (which the great unwashed have little, if any, chance of acquiring in the near future) is textbook Cruel-n-Unusual Punishment!

Getting closer every day, can’t be more than three weeks and might be less than two weeks, here to the reality of the perfect, beautiful, juicy and delicious BLT garden tomato ripe and ready to slice. The only mystery is which tomato will be first up. Early on, I kind of thought that the dark horse Vorlon would be a lock for the win, but the maiden thoroughbred Cleota Pink is coming on strong at the quarter pole. The perennial favorite Pruden’s Purple is always a front runner and surely can’t be counted out. Could be a win by a nose or even a photo finish.

The leading contenders. Cleota pink has the perfect shape for something like a sourdough bread.

I have two Pruden’s Purple plants and both plants have worthy contenders.

Day 118 of 2025-21st Century Silver Jubilee Year Of The BLT!, 247 remain. Today's Monday Morning BLT Brunch participants are a nice Purple, a Ribbed Reddy, and a Yeller Reddy Bi-Color from Woodman's at the Rock Bottom price of $1.19/lb. Had to sift through A LOT of over-ripe ones; all were smallish:

Abaft:

Sliced:

Bring 'em on:

All were firm and tasty, with the nod ...again...going to the Purple.

Sliced the first homegrown tomato of 2025. Vorlon.

Had a prequel taste or two. Super impressed. Sweet, fruity, creamy, wife and I both love it.

BLT forthcoming.

Day 125 of 2025-21st Century Silver Jubilee Year Of The BLT!, Cinco de Mayo installment, 240 to go. Monday Morning BLT Brunch participants are a nice Yeller and similar Purple, supplied by Metro Market:

Back yonder:
thumbnail_IMG_3812.jpg
Sliced and beautimous, am I right?:
thumbnail_IMG_3813.jpg
And ready for delicious:
thumbnail_IMG_3814.jpg
Both were enviably firm, yet still yielded effortlessly to the certified @Mark_Thompson Wedge Cut©™® method. Both had that nice, fresh Tomatoey Taste, with the nod going to the Yeller's added citrusy-sweet profile.

At Junior’s request we had BLTs again today. Fruit was a Young Strickler’s Competition that was somewhere between 2/3 and 4/6 ripe. No Metro Market here to fall back on unfortunately. Still beat no BLT, I can tell you that much.
