No sign of weeds in the containers so far! The rocks have tons so apparently the previous tenants did zero weeding.

Haven't done a ton besides maintenance with the wind blowing like crazy the last week. I have a bunch of potting soil ingredients sitting there ready for a burst of energy. I expect things to take off this week in the heat. I really need to figure out my staking and get that going ASAP.

Peppers are setting fruit but I can't find a single tomato that's set yet.

I did trim some cinnamon basil flowers and made an arrangement in a mason jar shot glass

Ran out of perlite on Friday so I went to the only garden center in the area with it available in bulk (3.5 cu ft bags) this morning and they were completely out with no shipment until Tuesday or Wednesday. I was so close to being caught up. I may go searching in the morning depending on how far I feel like driving.

I've tried all three of these varieties, and only Chocolate Cherry grew well here. The Black Krim set not one fruit, and while the Green Zebra did set a few, it wasn't enough to impress. Of course, Phoenix is a different environment from Green Bay. Different gardens are-different!

And I fully expect to have varieties that aren't going to set a damn thing until October that probably thrive up there

Green Zebra is the surprise for me. With it's development mostly in the PNW I doubt the earliest releases would have done well here. Now that it's such a commercialized variety I shouldn't be as surprised. Although, Black Krim is technically Ukranian/Russian; but everything I read said it was one of the better heat setting dark varieties. Plants are fun!

I'd tried to grow Black Krim precisely because it was Ukrainian/Russian. I thought it would handle the cold a bit better. Alas, no. Those seeds weren't cheap either! That was before I learned about this board and all of the wondrous varieties of seeds I could obtain from the swaps! The swaps aren't free; in fact my postage to send the EBTKS box to the next in line was $31. I got much more in retail value from the seeds I took though! It was well worth it. The tomato varieties I've never even heard of and am looking forward to trying! Ah wonder!

Black Krim is a great tomato and does amazingly well here. The Crimea is pretty warm and humid in the summer growing season. https://weatherspark.com/y/98488/Averag ... Year-Round.

Whenever I go out of town for a week or 2 my garden will either 1) have grown a lot and look beautiful or 2) be dead as a door nail.
