Thanks, Bower! I was potting up some peppers earlier on the back patio, and the wind was gusting hard enough to discourage that activity! Just a smattering of rain and temps are dropping quickly, but I think the worst is past us for now. There was a lot of rain last night. You all stay safe, too!

Someone in town didn't like the weather yesterday. They threw away their inside-out, shaft-bent-in-half umbrella, for all walking by to see.

It finally warmed up a bit and they got all or at least most of the roads plowed. My garden and front yard are sill under over 20 inches of snow... but we needed the moisture. On the other hand being snowed in has given me a good excuse to go shopping... wish list met stimulus package, wish list nearly won... decided maybe I only really needed about half the things in the wish list. BUT I did get myself a compost tumbler and a steam/water bath canner so slowly adding to the things we need to grow food and put it by this year. For sure didn't need any more seeds but I did add some things like Dahlias and Jerusalem Artichokes to my front garden plan to replace the two cottonwoods that now need removed. Also have to watch the grandkids pine. It got damaged by the weight of the snow. At least two branches are totally gone other are stressed but may recover. It will be a waiting game with it.

weather here is very agreeable for first day of spring.
it hit 50 degrees yesterday, and the weekend is supposed to be in the mid 50s.
drive way is clear of snow. chickens are checking out the bare patches of ground.
mornings have been chilly. lows have been below freezing over night, but will creep
above 32 degrees for a few days. still plenty of snow on the ground, but it will be
rough sledding for the late season snow mobilers. trails will close april 1st.
it has been a different kind of winter. very little snow, then snow in bunches over short
periods of time, then snow daily for three weeks late january into february.
if we can dodge the late storms that can bury us sometimes in march, and april, we will be
in good shape.

43 this morning with calm conditions and a lot of radiational cooling overnight. Heading for 69 degrees and full sun. Spring is in full swing here with a million things coming alive, turning bright green literally overnight and/or in bloom or about to, all the oak trees, the yaupon holly, violets, various weeds out in the lawn, such a miracle is Spring.

Did a foliar feeding mist on the tomatoes this morning, something with a good amount of phosphorus and potassium in it, want to encourage some budding and flowers. Will have another day of plant care, replacing dead plants, trimming away freeze dead foliage, watering in new plantings, have hundreds of them to do and it will be pleasant with the great weather.

That cold front came through. It was clear and 42 this morning and not much better now with winds gusting to 15 mph. Wind chill is around 38. NOT a morning to go put up pea fence! The plants are just 2" tall so that chore can wait a day or two until the weather's nicer.

A bit of light rain here, but up in New South Wales, between Sydney and halfway to the Queensland boarder, anything up 400mm/16 inches a day has been falling, particularly inland from Port Macquarie. Wekly totals are nudging 800mm/32 inches. Widespread flood warnings been issued. Just glad we don't get those sort of falls around here. The geography of the country along the northern NSW coast can easily trap a storm. Our Great Dividing Range runs North- South less than 60 miles inland all the way up the coast with numerous spur ranges running out to the coast, so storm often hang in one valley.

So happy winter is over for Ohio. Feel like I was imprisoned for the last 5 months, especially with the political climate.

Sunny today although still pretty cold - I was at my friend's farm and filled a lot of buckets with snow so they will have water for an early crop in the greenhouse. Luckily there was an iron spade because the snow had been hardened to the max by being rained on and then frozen again. It was so refreshing to see my friends and to be outdoors in the sunshine. :)

Sunny here today, too but that wind, oh that wind!!!! Such a cold edge to it still.
I gave the kids next door some broad bean seeds today to plant in their garden. They remembered the samples I gave to their mom last year and liked them.

Gorgeous here today, up to about 67º, with little wind, until later. I actually liked it when the wind kicked in, as it blew away most of the dust, when I was fooling with that perlite, and other dusty things out there!

It is raining oak tassels now. Live oaks are very common here. The catkins can cover everything on the ground. It goes on for weeks.

Record breaking heat today -82° - breaking the 100 year old record of 80°. Super windy, with 50 mph gusts, otherwise, it would have felt hot outside.

Ah, our streak of warm weather this week (highs of 10C/50 F and mainly sunny) is broken. Ice storm last night has now changed to snow, and it looks like there will be enough to shovel and a few cold days to keep it on the ground. Weatherman showed us a couple of days ago, the system that brought tornadoes and T storms in southern US, well this is what the same system is coughing up as 'leftovers'. Surprisingly cold!

Foggy early this morning, got windy later, then moving to a mostly sunny and warm afternoon, about 78. A little cooler outlook tomorrow and for next week. Maybe some rain tomorrow morning. 1/2-1” would be nice, doubt it will amount to that. Pretty benign weather. One this or that is blooming today and the next day another. Yaupon Holly is the current blooming star for the bees if they can drag themselves away from the wisteria. Things like the lawn that had been so unusually brown with our big freeze have transformed into bright green, our spring has really been so very much an in your face one this year, nothing subtle about it.

a cold front came through, and gave us about three inches of snow overnight as a keepsake.
tomorrow, its supposed to hit 50 degrees before dipping back down into the 30s for highs, and
mid teen lows. march weather, warm, and inviting hinting of more pleasant things to come one
day, followed by freaking witch weather the next. schizo weather, is what it is.
currently partly sunny, 28 degrees with a brisk north wind.

I hear ya there, keith. We had a half day yesterday to shovel out the 20+ cm of snow, now another storm is on the way within the hour. First one was rain-freezing rain - ice pellets - to snow, and now the second one (thankfully) goes the other way: snow, ice, finally rain. Ah but it will freeze again by morning so chance of a slick. Bit of a howler too with gusts to 100 kph. Windchills on the cold ends are down to -14 C (around 7 F). Bouncing up by April 1 to a high of 8 C (40's F), when every bird will be singing the praises of the world :) But will it last? ... not really.

Peach trees are blooming, and it will be in the mid 20s tonight. It looks to be a total loss for the orchards.
