Which of your seedlings have been growing the most vigorously (pre-transplant), this year?

For me, it's been my Mexican Yellow cross F3 (I think Chapman was the father plant) and Isis Candy, so far. Isis Candy is actually growing faster, though (since it's younger).

I'm pretty surprised at how fast Isis Candy is growing. Does it usually grow fast?

Last year, I think Chris Ukrainian took the cake (not the cross-pollinated one that I actually transplanted in my garden, though). I figured the one I grew might be a cross or otherwise different since the growth habit was so different than the vigorous ones (I like to grow crosses and unique plants sometimes).

I have to say Lucid Gem. I also have a large round pink determinate variety I don't know the name of that has huge leaves, but LG is growing quicker. Nice purple stems too.

I have to say that the most vigorous plants so far are the f2 cross of storage tomatoes (ramallet), a cross of ibiza blanca and 100, the second rosao de ayerbe.

Barnes Mountain Pink & Olive Hill are looking good for us.

As always, Post Office Spoonful and Post Office Runt are the biggest. Tatjana is a dwarf but is really sturdy and dark green and lush-looking. Tommy Toe is also tall.

KARMA Pink and KARMA Miracle got off to later start than the other 70-some varieties, by about 1.5 months, but they're quickly catching up. They're adorable little bullies under the lights. I have them near the other late starts and some peppers - they keep covering their neighbors up with their fat potato leaves in a way that looks more strategic and intentional than the other PLs. I love it

Can't say which ones, but this year I bought a stupid bag of Miracle Gro seed starting mix, and I had the best seedlings with thickest stems ever.

I'm definitely finding a pattern that Russian/Ukraine varieties seem the most vigorous O.P. young plants of those I've grown recently.

Amish Paste seedlings (2020 seeds) and Patio Princess seedlings (2017 seeds) really took off, Big beef seedlings (2019 seeds) did pretty good.
But my Jet Star seedlings (2019 seeds) have struggled, I've never seen anything like it, the Jet Star stems looked sort of translucent, half of them just wilted then died, (was not dampening off), I planted three in the garden that are doing real well.

I used the same seed starting mix for all of my plants and they seem fine. I did have one Red Marconi seedling (2019 seeds) that seemed to be in a state of limbo, it's just not growing at all.

For me, it has been Principe Borghese, Black Krim, Work Release Paste, and Auria.

Have you grown Patio Princess before? I grew it a couple of times, and it did just fine, although they are really firm -- had to wait after they appeared ripe for them to soften. Nice sized plant for containers. I see that Burpee dropped PP from their catalog.

Yes I grew them 2017 and we're ok, nothing to write home about. I'll have to check my notes and see if I have any photos.

@Nan6b--- so you are growing Tommy Toes ? As a kid growing up everyone had a " Tommy Toe Patch" at one corner of their garden. I never heard the term, "cherry, or grape tomatoes" until I was a adult. I thought all small cherry size tomatoes was Tommy Toes. LOL. They just let them run free on the ground. And they never got diseases. Imagine trying that now ??
I keep saying I'm going to plant some Tommy Toes, just to revisit my childhood. Its probably a bucket list thing, I'll never get around to. At one time it was the most popular tomato in the garden, for Hillbillies. Most people dedicated a 15' by 15' square to Tommy Toes. Us kids had to go get an adult to pick um for us. We was accused of stomping on the vines. I memory of it was-- its a extremely strong full tasting. Kind hits ya all at once. But not on the sweet side of today's cherries.

We still do that here in SW Idaho! I prefer it to using cages, personally, for tomatoes. Disease isn't usually that big of an issue here compared to what I hear from out east. I think I'll use my tomato cages from last year on wonderberries, this year. Tomatoes are too heavy for them.

For me this year it’s been Clear Lake Heirloom, Lucky Cross and Green Bee.

I found my Chris Ukrainian, and it is growing vigorously this year, too (especially for not having resprouted until recently, I believe).
