Re: How's your weather?
Cloudy and humid this morning. Having my scam eclipse glasses returned. I was given a correct pair by a generous person but I won't be able to view the eclipse anyway. That's the way Texas weather luck goes: Too much rain this time of year that it even messes up something we won't see for another 20 years.
Unpleasant storms expected later this afternoon. Winds, hail, tornadoes...all that good stuff. My greenhouse and most plants that are small enough to be covered are covered. I'll be staying indoors the next two days while it continues raining just watching TV I guess. Good thing I've got new murder mysteries on hand.

Rain, rain and more rain. All through the night there will be rain. I guess I'll be staying indoors doing housework. Maybe make a few bars of soap to kill some time.

One more warm day, with no rain, then late Wednesday it starts again, for 3 days. Nice day today @68°, and possibly 78° tomorrow, and remaining mild, in the 70s and 60s, despite the rain.

Very severe storms going on for me right now. Power is off, but generator is running. I seriously thought a tornado was coming it was so bad when it first hit. Heavy rain and wind and some thunder right now.

Re: How's your weather?
it was warm enough for my first glimpse of the garter snakes coming out of their hole between the driveway, and propane tank.
they were out sunning themselves. might have been about six of them, not big ones. they were there last year too. couldn't get
too close because i had the dog out for a short walk. she is very intrigued by snakes. not quite sure what to do with them. i have to
keep her away from them otherwise she will paw at them, and if she gets brave enough, she'll try to grab them. best we leave the
snake alone. i like them around. got to about 47 today, mostly cloudy, but no rain. sure looked like it was gonna rain, but didn't.

Re: How's your weather?
It got to 79° here today, warmest day since sometime last October. Rain starting in the morning, but the worst is coming Thursday, into Friday, and we might get an inch or so over the next 3 days. Staying around 70°, and higher than average lows, as well.

I saw the news and the radar in Bastrop. Looked bad, especially just along and a little north of hwy 71.

Re: How's your weather?
OK today but that big mess along the Gulf coast coming out of Texas will blow through here tomorrow. They're forecasting heavy rain, severe lightning, high winds. The front edge of it should reach here in the wee hours tomorrow morning. I hate when that stuff comes in during the night.
They'll get in the Par Three tournament at the Masters today but I wonder if they'll get in much of Round 1 tomorrow.

Power came back on yesterday evening.
Backyard looks like an ocean washed through. Got way too much rain that could've been used elsewhere. Currently it's not raining, I'm hoping for a nice long break so I can uncover the poor plants.

If I would have had plants out or growing they would have been wiped out.

1.6” of rain here beginning around 3:30 am. Wind beat up a few of the peppers and eggplant. I had the tomatoes tied up pretty snugly. Lost the top of an American Elm and that landed on the driveway. Had to cut my way out.
Thankfully, no hail. Rain appears to be done. Dry and nice for the next several days.

I didn't get outside this morning, due to some light rain, but will get out soon to do a little more. Yesterday I got the lawn mowed, since I heard it would be raining again, and those weeds are growing well, after all that rain I've been having! Fortunately, some of the "weeds" are things I use! I could probably supply a Chinese restaurant with those garlic chives, starting in a week or so!

I was wondering the same thing. Windy both Thursday and Friday. Windy conditions in golf generally means high scores. Lots of rain, though, might soften the greens and make for softer landings on approach shots and easier putting.GoDawgs wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2024 8:21 am OK today but that big mess along the Gulf coast coming out of Texas will blow through here tomorrow. The weekend weather looks really good for whomever can survive the first two days.

Re: How's your weather?
It started raining here about 3.30, and I had just cleaned up, and put everything away around 3:00, so it was timed just right. It rained hard, but briefly, and even though the rain has been on and off, in almost 6 hours it has only totalled .02" on that gauge I just put back up. It's supposed to be cooler tomorrow - about back to average in low to mid 60s, but some heavy rain. Won't be doing much more outside then.

It was sunny enough to give me a headache, but fortunately, some Tylenol and sleep helped me to feel better. Also, fortunately, the longer days mean I have more time to prepare my soil and stuff.

Re: How's your weather?
It got as dark this morning as it did from the eclipse the other day - maybe darker! It was raining very hard, with those very dark clouds. The rain has let up, but more is coming, from down south, where those really bad storms are occurring. It's mostly going W of me, and the last front I was in between the two worst parts going west and east of here, but I had about .40" so far, around 9 am, slowing down some now, and the light came back some. They are still predicting thunderstorms for later, but nothing like this morning.

Re: How's your weather?
I think that the radar is even tired of the rain. While it's been raining for almost 2 days, now, the light rain doesn't show up on that radar. At least the temps are climbing. A week ago it was raining and 40 to 50 degrees. Now it is 50 to 60 degrees.
