So two pliers would be a pair of pliers.
Two cats would be a pair of cats.

crocs have teeth that show when mouth is closed. alligators do not.
the one on the left looks like it has some front teeth showing.

It’s the shape of the snout. I Learned this in the Everglades when I was 6 or 7. Jumped off a tour boat pulling away from the dock in gator infested waters. I still remember the gasp of everyone on the boat in unison as I sailed over the water and my front foot just barely landed on the dock so I didn’t fall in. I didn’t like the stranger I was sitting next to because they didn’t have enough seats together for me to sit with my Dad, brother and sister. My Mom was sitting on a bench feeding my baby sister an ice cream and I decided that looked like more fun. Anyway, I couldn’t remember which nose/snout belonged to which so I looked it up.

I thought the croc was on the right, since it is the narrower one. They are the ones with their teeth showing, but I can't really tell in this photo - so I just went by the shape.

Gator is much broader across the snout than a crocodile. Teeth showing is not a reliable tell, as they can loose them.

We used to feed a big wild bull alligator sandwiches.
His name was Snaggs and he had one eye..
They finally had to put up a chain link fence to keep him from coming out of the water and so on.
One guy was trying to stuff the sandwich through the fence and Snaggs came flying out of the water and crashed into the fence with his mouth wide open.
At the same time I grabbed the guy by the leg really hard.
The guy peed himself and screamed like a woman.

Snaggs became so friendly the firemen were sitting at the table in the break room and they turned to see Snaggs in the break room with them.
Snaggs was well over 10 feet long.
They finally had to relocate Snaggs to some other location because he became so friendly.

Snaggs was a kind and goodly alligator.

croc on the right, after comparing pictures, alligators have the broader snout.
and if you are curious if they can interbreed, no, they can't. even though they look
similar, they are too far apart on the family tree to hybridize.

Was this the gator by the gate at the plant? Seems like it was pretty close to the plant store. Anyhow, I remember a big, “friendly” gator near the entrance of the contractor’s gate at plant B.

Crocodiles are reported to have roughly twice the bite pressure of an alligator. Alligators have twice the bite force of a grizzly bear, which is surprising to me.

Our bite force is about 1/8 a grizzly bear’s psi.

It was in the canal next to the Union gate and the fire department.
Our office was next to the fire department.
That area was next to the Dow store as well.
I bet it was Snaggs.
