Winter flowering bramble

I require some help from any berry fiends that may be on here if possible please.
I will shortly be receiving a plant of a bramble type berry that apparently flowers here in the Australian mid winter and has ripe fruit around mid September, way earlier than most other berries down here. Actual location where plants are currently growing is a Melbourne suburb called Arthurs Seat. I have been told that the plant has true leaves rather than leaflets. Person currently growing ot has 30+ years experience growing plants down under and has never heard of anything similar.
Any pointers as to identity would be greatly appreciated.
