Experimented yesterday and came up with perfect kartoffelpuffers aka hash browns the way I like them.
Grate a potato and squeeze out the water.
Add a little flour and mix.
Put in something for a mold and press potato in it.
Put on oiled griddle pan on low to lightly cook but not even close to all the way.
This cooks the inside and sets it up.
Take out and set aside.
Once you have them cooked put in hot oil to finish frying.

I'm the only person I know that uses Kartoffelpuffer for a hash brown.
Many ways to prepare them but I lke the way I do it.
Another way is with mashed potatoes

I like them with bacon bits and small pieces of onions inside the stuff. When made without them, we add apple purée for eating. But we always prepare them only in a pan, no second frying.
