They don't have to be related to you - it's always a good thing to teach the things we have learned about gardening to younger people. Well, that's how I feel about it.

Sunday was an extremely painful day - nothing short of pain level 7, but Saturday was different. I was able to plant the tomato plants in 5 gallon buckets of mix. I got to show our two grandchildren how to transplant tomato and pepper plants. I made it simpler to understand how a little overwatering tomato plants can cause those bumps - roots that just say, "Plant me deeper". While pepper plants are the opposite. I explained BER.

Speaking from a pain level that I hope none of you ever experience - Please try to take time and help those younger than us.

I share your sentiment. I take my kids out, and teach them about the good bugs, and the bad. The importance of bees, and how to properly amend soil. It's a wonderful experience that each of them look to enjoy, even if not equally .

I have my first grandchild he just turned 1 and he is always grabbing his shoes to go outside I bought him a gardening set so we can play in the dirt in nans garden he just loves it

My mom, my kids' Noona, has their own "Chicken Shoes". A play on words, because they play with the chickens and get covered in chicken manure...

Kids love seeing grandparents. It sounds like you've got a future gardener in the making

Average age of the young ones I teach is 23.

BTW, I think I saw those "bumps" at the bottom of a stem, but how it is related to overwatering?

Just found out got grand baby number 2 on the way so it looks like I will definitely be keeping the garden going I love watching there little faces in the dirt playing and trying understand knowledge is priceless

High humidity and over watering can cause advantageous roots to form, which are those bumps on the lower stem.

Planting deeper can help the plant by allowing the roots to form and strength the root system

Adventitious roots. Unfortunately I’m real familiar with these due to my adventures with pith necrosis.

I agree Worth. We teach and learn. Without that we become know-it-all-wannabees. I couldn't imagine a day without learning.

Her own garden, she chose the plants: Sunflower, Corn, Beans, Lettuce.
