Another hug on the loss, my friend. And Lester sends more head butts.

Since we have more pets(I myself eight critters) than any other country in the world losing them the escapees, mutts that run from lighting ,open gates by delivery’s etc.I have put on my collars those air tags for finding your luggage. Some the richer folks are incorporating key fobs for some expensive mutts.Chips are great when detection is done.I’m sure there are some products out there, but in a pinch.

My German Shepherd is dying right now, cancer I think. She's a 12 y/o former shelter dog and we've spent every day together for the past ten years. I take her everywhere I go. I keep feeding her, but she is skin and bones. First she stopped eating dry food. Then I bought bologna for her. Today she wouldn't take it. We went to Burger King and I managed to get a hamburger down her. Her breath is labored, and I expect her to go any time. She keeps staring at what appear to be things only she can see. I keep wondering if what she is seeing is really there, but I'm the one who can't see it.

She is such a beautiful girl. I have always enjoyed seeing her pictures. I'm so very sorry to hear that her time is at hand. Losing such a good friend is the hardest thing. My thoughts are sure with you and here is a BIG hug for the both of you too.

If she is suffering, you can take her to your county animal shelter to be put down for a very reasonable fee.

really sorry to hear that. i have my own german shepherd. she is nine now, and slowing down a bit.
it will be a sad, sad, day for me when its time to say good bye to her. i love her dearly. thats what we
have to experience having a pet. i will always have one as long as i can. even though the loss of one can
be so painful. you gave her a good life. think of all the happy memories, and life goes on. thats all you can do.

Thank you to everyone for the kind sentiments.

I read this story when I was 9 years old and always remembered it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Annie_and_the_Old_One

The idea of unweaving the rug so that grandma won't die is, I think, an excellent metaphor for all that we do to attempt to fight off death despite it being inevitable.

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby. I had a German Shepherd once and their loyalty and love is amazing. She owns a corner of your heart and will still be there long after she's gone.

Where the red fern grows comes to mind.
What else can I say my friend.

You can't argue with a closed mind.
You might as well be arguing with a cat.

Thanks. I buried her just now.

I found a pic from the day I took her home, almost exactly ten years ago.

I'm so very sorry Cole. Such a sad day. She will always have that big room in your heart.
