I put collars around each sweet potato plant to keep waterings from running down the raised ridge. The collars are basically the top 3” of a one gallon pot that I cut off. It works really well especially in that critical first week or two when the slips have been planted and need to be kept moist.

That is a good idea

They do the same for new tree plantings.
