Everything is going great till this starts happening.. Small tornado and lots of hail. It hailed for over an hour but I have most plants protected with hail screens.

Glad most of your plants are OK. I cannot image having hail last for an hour, that had to seem like Armageddon.

So sorry to hear about that, but glad most of the plants survived.

Tomatoes and chiles faired fairly well. I have metal lath hail guards over each plant. Its a must here because at out altitude well get several more before August. The poor onion sets got hammered but i suspect theyll pull thru ok.
The dents in the hail screens were from last years hail.

Gosh it looks like hail in a number of places, we have had three days of miserable weather, rain and hail, but no overnight frost. Some tomatoes look worse for wear, so hope it gets better soon or I fear they are not going to recover. Better weather still looks a week away.

Poly film for greenhouses handles hail surprisingly well. I had thought it would punch holes in it, but not at all. It gives a little to take the force off the impact. Similarly, a pressure washer that would cut skin like a knife will not affect poly.

NMRuss I'm so sorry to hear that you get such incredibly bad weather. I'm glad to see that you are resilient and keep on moving on. I hope that those plants bounce back with force. Sometimes a stressor just seems to make those plants more productive.

Thanks MissS It is what it is. Never give up Never surrender! I just have to keep finding ways to circumvent or mitigate what the weather throws at me. Even so it was 35f this morning but I come at gardening with a tenacious fervor! My grandma (Cain) always told me it was because it was in my blood... we were the first farmers. Grandma said we were also the first murderers also! Im pretty sure I didnt get that trait.
