Lotte,

I'll be posting the Master List of tomato varieties that come into the MMMM swap, soon. There should be "some" that you do not have.

My question is, how easy would a large bubble mailer pass customs, there?

Hi Gary

Sounds great.Until now I haven't had any problems, as long we send a 'birthdaycard' like envelope and it is a reasonable number of seeds. Are there someting you want me to send to you?Maybe we can talk in a PM?

There are about 85 varieties on your list that have never been in the MMMM swap. I'm hoping that others in the swap can post, here, varieties they would like to directly trade with you for. And, then grow out sufficient seeds of those varieties for next year's swap.

I can then trade with you for the rest.

The other option is for us to trade for all. And, then I can take requests from others for me to mail seeds to them, for their grow outs.

Let's see what others say, and take it from there.

(If anyone else is interested in the tomatoes I listed here, I’m happy to send some if you aren’t participating in the MMMM or if they don’t find their way to you in the swap)

That is a wonderful list! I do hope that we find a way to get some of them to Gary so that others have the opportunity to try them.
I have a pretty extensive list of tomato seeds. It would be easier for you to ask for something that you want rather than for me to list the hundreds of varieties that I have.

@ root_grow

I will have to study your list, thank you for your answer, and you just write me your wants.
I grow all kind of tomatoes, the biggest part are the smaller ones, and every color has my interest.

@Lotte I'm sending Matt d'Imperio, Wickline and Zelovu to the MMMM. I don't have Yorkbec, but I'm sending Superbec, Usabec & Ultrabec. If you don't end up getting these seeds from the MMMM/Tormato, I'd be happy to send these varieties to you directly.

I'll be posting my MMMM list in the Spoilers thread tonight or tomorrow. I have some other lesser-known varieties from Sand Hill Preservation, so you might want to take a look to see if there are any others you might want. Most of these are 2019 seed but they've been stored well and I haven't had trouble with germination.

I have no idea how many of mine you might want but if we're lucky that you want many, I'm happy to send a few cards with whatever is a "reasonable" amount of seeds per card. @Tormato is that both ways, or how easily do seeds pass customs to us?

I would love to grow any of these:
Freudenträne
Lotte's Lime
Guldkrone
Heaven's Joy
Frontenac
Weissleinchen
Sød skøn fynsk cherry
Küstengold
Schokoladeperle
Moldawisches Kirsche
Blue of the Night
Blue Pearl
Sweet Sharon
Grøn aflang daddel Aldi
Inges laksefarvede flad
Clementine
Graffiti Pink

A few if them would be great, or if they all arrived in my mailbox I would grow all of them. I'll send seed from them to Tormato for the swap next year. I'm like you, I grew 150 varieties this year and definitely not on track for fewer next year!

@Seven Bends - Thank you, I'll look forward to your Masterlist, love reading lists.

I don't find it a problem using older seeds, if stored the right way and collected when mature, there should't be problems.Every year when I decide what to grow, I try to use some of my really old seeds to get a renewal/replacement.

I am always amazed at how many different varieties of tomatoes that exist. I think I have seeds for maybe 5 from the first list and 5 from the want list out of the far too many seeds that I have.

@Lotte How do you store all those seeds? I enjoy collecting seeds as well, but have big concerns as to how to best store them long term.

I have Tatjana and Yaponskiy Stelyashchisya (Japanese Creeping) which I believe may be the same as Yaponskiy Karlik (Japanese Dwarf) which is a stelyashchisya (creeping) form. Lots of other E. European, dwarfs, and older varieties, but those are the two that I have on your list.

If Lotte has traded with others from the USA, they could answer better than me. I've only sent small amounts of seeds to Denmark a few times, with no problems. Your above list should easily fit into a greeting card envelope. I couldn't imagine any problems. The thinner and lighter the better. I try to keep an envelope under 1/8" thick. Sometimes it requires cutting off the top "zip" part of 2" X 3" zip baggies. I usually cut them down to 3/4" X 2" then tape over the opening, and further tape them to thin card stock all aligned in order. I've put 60+ varieties into an envelope in the past, but no longer do. I think Covid, at first, tightened up loose customs checking.

Yes, will agree that customs, at least here in Oz has tightened up. 18000 interceptions upto the start of November, was lucky to get the only one I have asked for this year. Neatly packaged up as per above.

@Toomanytomatoes - I have them in a sort of card-index, a huge one in the livingroom, with the seeds starting with A in the first drawer and so on.It works for me.Maybe there are some seeds every year that won't germinate, but that is only 5-10 %, and that is because the seeds have been taken to soon without being mature or simply too old.
