How does the Florida Pink tomato taste? I like the description about fruit size and production here, but I'm hoping for more information and opinions on the taste: https://tomatogrowers.com/products/florida-pink

It's been around for some time, but apparently few grow and report on it. I can try to dig up an old thread at T'ville. My remembering about it is that it is light pink, very large, has good set in hot weather (rare for such a large tomato), and "average" (likely still very good) taste.

I've never tried it, and have only seen seed once. For those who primarily grow pink beefsteaks, we may be looking for the exceptionally flavored tomatoes, not just the average. And, that could be why it doesn't get much chatter.

I grew 3 plants in 2003 along with Big Beef. The thing I remember most about Florida Pink was it stayed disease free. The description in the TGS catalog got me hooked but the taste was nothing special. I never grew it again after 2003. Tormato is spot on about us that are looking for exceptionally good tasting pink beefsteaks don't give this one much attention.

I do see it as breeding material.
