I'll be going back out to Fell's West today and see if I can nail him down on it a little more.

Anyone ever heard of this variety? My guy out at Felly's West gave me one.
I tried looking it up but hit a wall.

It may be worthy of cloning once it gets bigger,as insurance if you can't find more plants.

I got the Kindle book “Thomas Jefferson’s Creme Brûlée”. Fascinating book, I’m already up to Chapter 3.
No mention of specific tomatoes just yet.

I found a tomato on SSE listed as Jefferson Giant, but nothing of the name Thomas Jefferson. Maybe a rename?
85 days, Medium-sized (8-12 oz.), globe to blunt-heart shaped, clear-skinned tomatoes have very good, balanced flavor with a nice tangy undertone. Regular leaf plant with wispy foliage yielded moderately during the hot summer of 2012. IL LO N, 2012
Will be curious if this is similar to what you get?
As an aside I’m happy to hear somewhere in Madison didn’t find the name of a one of the best early Presidents too distasteful to include in their lot of plants.

The giant is listed as from 1880

@jmsieglaff; "I found a tomato on SSE listed as Jefferson Giant," (bolds added)
My Felly's West guy now seems to think that's what it is, and claims the fruits will be YUGE!
It's in the ground now and I'll provide timely updates going forward.

Not to go off topic--but is that two plants? Or is that just a second leader that you buried above the point where it meets the main stem?

Looks like a nice plant! Such a small SSE listing, but the flavor description sounds like a tomato that should be more widely grown. I'll be curious to see how it does for you.

@Setec Astronomy; yes, two (2) plants. And nice, thick stems for these here parts at this time of the year.
@jmsieglaff; if you're in the Madison vicinity, you's should stop by Felly's West (the ONLY place to get the Namio Heirloom!) and introduce yourself to Abdullah (the Arab Gardener!); if there's a more genuinely pleasant, knowledgeable, and just downright always happy nursery employee, I ain't met him yet!
