So i have been looking for tomato seeds and i couldnt find any, just tomatoes. Turns out everyone is buying starts. I dont have time to track down the source of the starts but i found that so interesting.

I did save a heartish shaped tomato from a local tomato and i will save its seeds.

Ran across an article saying in the 80s that someone cataloged the genetic diversity in tomatoes in Jordan and found 44 types, two in this area.

So, i think here lives and dies my hope of something new to bring back. We will see. The local tomatoes have all been dry farmed for several hundred years so i was hoping i could get something interesting with that adaptation.

Probably any local tomato that you can buy would be one that's got the dry farming adaptation. It's always nice to find "named" varieties but that may not be common everywhere. So many tomatoes are just named for the place they were collected.

Every once in a while they try to introduce new things. I was not hoping for named per se but that the dealer was still.selli g seed that is locally saved for sure. Some tomatoes come from the Jordan Valley which is heavily irrigated. Those are the ones i was hoping to avoid. Paper towel was my plan!
