I want to start a glog here but it’s too rainy right now to take garden pix. So here are my pepper compots back on March 23.

The chewed-off Jacob’s Cattle beans are growing new leaves!

Here’s a pepper. We put cages around each one and fence the bed because rabbits apparently. This is a poblano.

Here’s a typical tomato. Each has a stake and gets pruned to two-ish vines except the Mexico Midget.

The onions and garlic are doing great. The only things that do better than my alliums are the weeds.

Updates from over the weekend. First, here is the organic pest control at work in the neighbor's plot.

A couple of general views including the chive border just before I cut it back.

Only one sugar snap pea so far. Did I remember to pick and eat it? No. I'm slipping, I guess.

Potato bugs are attacking our tomatillo. I picked and flicked them off. Gross.

Peppers recovered and are no longer yellow and sad looking. Amazing what heat and a little fertilizer can do.

Started pruning and training the tomatoes. Bagged a few blossoms, too. I'm totally new at that so we shall see if I figure it out.

Onions and garlic are doing great. Pulled off a lot of garlic scapes already. Looks like we're on track to harvest the first week or two of July. After years of just mixing varieties we replenished the seed garlic with some named varieties and the differences in growth are apparent.

One cucumber pot is doing much better than the other. No explanation. Same pots, same mix, same seeds.

The butternut squash is finally taking off. I think it just took forever for the soil to really warm up this year.

After ending up with few or no beet seedlings after direct-sowing and then thinning I decided to try starting some in a compot and then transplanting. Seems ill-advised for a root crop but we shall see.

Due to the leaf predation and regrowth the bush beans are a bit uneven. I'm growing them for dried beans so staggered ripening dates aren't a big deal.
