This morning I picked up a Free truckload of compost from the local water conservation district

Wow. Looks great. What is it made from? Around here we get leaf "compost" that isn't really done composting and is pretty acidic.

Chopped up Woody material nitrogen containing material ie vegetables leaves and manure ground together than baked in the southern California sunshine for 6 to 12 months

I was hauling it in a 2003 Ranger for a few years. 12 miles one way and about 800# overweight. 1½ yards each time and all for the community gardens. Spring mount came up through the box on one side. Strained the motor until head cracked. But the gardens loved it! Now have an F-150. No more hauling bulk compost but lots of horse manure in 5-gallon pails. Ranger could hold 18 pails, F-150 handles 24.

The city here has free compost when available. Unfortunately it is load your own and usually not completely broke down. Made not from just leaves but grass clippings too, so you get all the chemicals from anyone and everyone's yard. While I have used it in the past I have found it full of garbage, plastic, paper, metal etc., too many people throwing garbage in with their yard waste.

I see you have a tarp for the top of the load if you also put a tarp lining the bed of the truck you can pull it towards you as it gets low so you don't have to keep jumping up into the truck. That also speeds up cleaning out the back when you're done. I had one of those easy unloaders on my last truck and it worked great.

Hi hdrider this is also load yourself, took about 30 minutes. I can't use the trap on the bottom or the easy unloaders as I applied a sprayed on bed liner many years ago. Mike

If you put a tarp under the unloader it will work, the tarp gives the unloader a slippery surface to move on.

Hello Mike,
I have 4 composts. At the end of the year I do on it:
in 2,6 gallions water (10 Liter) I do in
0,26 gallions milk 1,5 %, half pound sugar and a cube yeast
so I can use the compost twice a year.
Yours is looking very good !
