Has anyone tried any of these fancy colored funny named fruits? Are they any good, do they produce well and handle disease or are they just pure marketing?

I've tried some of them. I really like Desperado, which is an earlier version of the Lady Madonna that's listed on the site.

I'm growing Long Tall Sally, but it's not coming out that well. This year it's prone to disease on the fruit. Last year it was planted too late and I only got two fruit from it. The year before it had a bunch of BER. I'm not sure if I'll keep trying it next year.

I'm growing Rebel Star Fighter Prime. The first ones had some BER, but we put some compost around the plant and the new ones are looking good.

I'm also growing Stormin' Norman. Tasty and prolific.

The tomatoes are fine. Of course there are some better than others. Some folks here prefer not to do business there due to some past issues with the owner.

@Acer Rubrum Thanks for the info, if you save any seeds from the ones you like I’d be interested in a trade.

@MissS Ooh love some drama, I’ll boycott them too, just say the word! :P

I suppose that I should not have said that. This is a new site and I/we need to leave the past baggage at the door when walking in and allow new relationships to begin. I shall not say anything more about it.

I have some Desperado and Long Tall Sally seed. I haven't actually tried the Rebel Starfighter Prime yet. I am planning to save some Stormin' Norman seed but I haven't yet.

The Desperado is a short plant that does fine in a container. It produces oblong pink tomatoes that taste good and are good for sauce. It can bounce back from neglect remarkably well, not that I know from experience, of course ;). Here are some pictures of it.

Don't know if that seed site is working still, nothing for sale or updater for a couple years.

Made a list of wants from there for 2023 but never ordered. Has anyone tried Grandma Oliver’s Chocolate? Sounds good and would trade if good and site is no longer available. Agree one should not ban a site if they have turned themselves around and are now reliable. Interested in more input on hopefully good recent experiences!

It must have had some rave reviews, as it was the most requested variety in the swap, two yeas ago.

As I recall there were some very good things said about Rebel Starfighter and Grandma Oliver's. Desperado is one that I have been wanting to try for some time now.

Ditto for me and for the Long Tall Sally one. Maybe the site for the seeds will come back sometime.

My season is just starting as in seeds are sowed. I'm growing Big Cheef and Not Purple Strawberry. He has Rebel Yell listed on his site too which is a very popular good tomato.

Other than the 3 I have already grown, I've only heard of Rebel Alliance which I think I grew once also.

ETA - I think he just had those tomatoes I mentioned on his site; not that he was the breeder.

Desperado mentioned above in this post isn't listed on his site.

I never heard any drama regarding this person.

ETA: I did find on Bounty Hunter Seeds a category by breeder.

Desperado was on his site previously. He continued to work with that seed line and got Lady Madonna. I don't know why he didn't keep listing both, but I've read that he considers Lady Madonna to be the replacement for Desperado. That's fine, but I'm a big fan of Desperado so I keep growing it.

I am not aware of any issues with Galactic Magic Seeds or Blane, I have received seeds from him thru a great seed swap he and several other serious growers participated in many years ago when I was first getting back into gardening and have nothing but good things to say about his seeds. I have grown Rebel Yell a few times (its very good) and Grandma Oliver's Chocolate for the first time this year - it grew okay( deer topped it off in May and then a volunteer watermelon plant tried to overtake it early on so it did not get the best start , I will be planting it again next year ) but my favorite in the garden this year was Stormin Norman. It was prolific and tasty. I will be sending seeds for Stormin Norman in the MMMM swap.

I just went there. Most seeds say out of stock, after you click on them.

I placed an order last week and received the order confirmation through paypal right away. Havent had an update or tracking info since. Now when I browse to the Galactic site it is "currently unavailable." Just wanted to update this thread. As of right now it appears the website is no more or under construction.

Just wanted to update this thread. Never received any tracking information or follow up email to the order confirmation, however the seeds I ordered did finally arrive today. Website still appears to be down though.

Hope Blane is okay. I don't know if he is associated with Dean Slater anymore.
