Has anyone grown Ozark Pink? It’s supposed to take heat and other stresses. But how does it taste?

And what about Beam’s Yellow Pear? SSE says it was the best of 25 yellow pears in a trial in 1998. Is it worth growing, or has a better little yellow pear come along since then?

Thorburn’s Terra Cotta looks intriguing, but I’ve seen it compared to Uluru Ochre, which did not impress me.

I hadn't realized there were 25 different yellow pear varieties. The one I grew I thought was bland and mushy. Very productive, but was not a fan. It was just labeled as Yellow Pear.

Have not grown the other 2 yet. I also was not a fan of Uluru Ochre. I would also throw Parfait in with that mix. Odd tasting tomato to me.

Beam's had been pretty good in my garden. Balanced, noit too sweet or tart/acidic.

I’ve grown Thorburn’s Terracotta twice. Cool color, decent production, nice but not over the top flavor.

Ozark Pink was on karstopography's grow out list for 2021/2022.

Reading up on its history, it sure sounds like it would be a fairly early, heat and humidity tolerant variety. Being a pink, I could imagine it having very good flavor. But having a globe-type interior, I have my doubts that it would have the over-the-top flavor of many of the pink beefsteaks.

I didn’t end up growing Ozark Pink and it’s been too many sleeps since then to remember why.
